🌍 Decarbonizing the maritime industry - introducing Carbon Captured Transhipper concept 🚢 ☘️ Do you remeber a promising ship design concept that could transform the way to handle CO2 at sea which we've announced a while ago ❓ 👉 Carbon Captured Transhipper (CCT), developed by Seatech Engineering and Wavelength Technology Center, is designed to receive captured CO2 from ships equipped with an on-board carbon capture systems, store it and then offload it onshore for permanent storage or conversion into synthetic fuels like e-methanol. 💡 Sounds promising, right ❓️ Read more about our CCT and its role in the future of a sustainable maritime industry in the article below on Offshore Energy 👇 https://lnkd.in/grpVVuFs #CO2 #CO2capture #CarbonCapturedTranshipper #decarbonisation #circulareconomy #cleanenergy #seatech #seatechengineering #wavelengthtechnologycentre

Last week we've had an opportunity to attend #GreenEarthConference by Maritime World. The theme of the event was the future of sustainable shipping 🚢 and the efficiency of green solutions ☘️ in the maritime industry. Discussions focused on low-carbon solutions for marine and offshore sector 🌊, as well as a number of challenges that accompany this goal. 🚨 One of them, mentioned during panel discussion by Adam Ślipy, was the client expectation to receive a final complex solution, already including the application of modern green technology, without willing to invest in the analysis and learning process of their implementation. This results in the need for companies to devote considerable resources to be ready to deliver such projects, and this process is expensive, time-consuming and requires staying ahead of future market demands. In addition to panel discussion, Adam had the pleasure of giving a short presentation on Seatech Engineering Ltd design services to a group of conference attendees from Malta. Although Poland and Malta are in different parts of the world, due to their access to the sea both treat maritime industry as one of the pillars of economy development and creating business. That is why we see great potential in joint projects in the future. Capt David Bugeja, Jonathan Borg, Kurt Mizzi, Kurt Gutteridge, Alex Tanti, Ali Vakili, Sławomir Bałdyga, MBA - thank you for fruitful discussions. Let's see how we can support each other 🤝. #seatech #seatechengineering #shipdesign #MaritimeWorld #GreenShipping #Sustainability #Innovation #SmartPorts #Gdansk2024 #FutureOfShipping

XXIII #ForumGospodarkiMorskiejGdynia took place last Friday at Pomorski Park Naukowo-Technologiczny Gdynia / Pomeranian Science and Technology Park Gdynia. The theme of this year's meeting was: 💡 The future of Polish and European maritime economy within the current geopolitical situation 💡. The current situation of the shipbuilding industry in Europe is difficult. Figures at the event strongly resonated, showing that: 👉 91% of new ship orders placed by European shipowners go to China, while Chinese shipowners place only 7% of their own orders outside their country, 👉 50% of orders worldwide are placed in China, 27% in Korea and 11% in Europe (mainly cruise ships), 👉 main strategic transport is made by ships manufactured in China. There are many reasons for this situation, including: 🚨 the cost of building vessels, and the subsequent operation, varying on average by 30-40% between Europe and China, 🚨 manpower shortages and rising labour costs in Europe, 🚨 problems with financing of expensive and complex vessels in Europe, 🚨 advantage of asian shipyards in new technologies investments. EU is aware of growing challenges and plan to implement a detailed sector strategy for the shipbuilding industry. The strategy is to include indications of order placement by European shipowners in Europe. An opportunity for the shipbuilding industry in Europe may lie also in energy transformation of maritime transport and achieving a goal of zero carbon by 2050. During the forum, we've heard guarantees from engine manufacturers of being ready for all types of fuel, but shipowners are looking at different options and continue to choose diesel, as it remains the cheapest available solution for now. 🔎 We'll be keeping a close eye on developments - as a design office, we're counting on a turnaround in European shipowners decisions that significantly affect the projects we're carring out in Seatech Engineering Ltd. #seatech #seatechengineering #shipdesign

PCHET - Polish Conference for Hydrogen Energy and Technologies 2024 is behind us, and so is a significant panel discussion with Seatech Engineering Ltd on transport decarbonisation. Our Team captain Adam Ślipy, together with Andrzej Szałek, Olaf Godlewski and Dariusz Rudziński, addressed the topic of low-carbon solutions in rail, road and maritime transport. The substantive exchange of ideas was moderated by Maciej Grześkowiak, leading to interesting conclusions and even industry 'dreams' of the future. In aiming the goal of decarbonising transport in general, we face a number of challenges, with the main ones like: ✅️ legislation - the need for consistent and effective policies and regulations, ✅️ infrastructure - the need to build and modernise the existing one, ✅️ costs - high expenses associated with the implementation of zero- or low-emission solutions and lack of sufficient financial support through subsidy programmes. In addition, the maritime transport itself involves a number of specific challenges with regards to decarbonisation such as: 👉 introducing a wide range of new, low-carbon propulsion technologies, 👉 ensuring that low-emission solutions provide sufficient power and efficiency to meet the demands of large ship ranges and payloads (at the moment such solutions relate only to small vessels), 👉 the diversity of vessels and their purposes (cargo, passenger, fishing etc.) making it difficult to implement versatile solutions. As a design office, however, we see great potential and interest among shipowners in implementing green solutions, mainly outside Poland for the moment - hopefully it will change soon. We will gradually implement newly emerging technologies and sometimes apply even old, working well solutions like sails 🌬, which, with smaller vessels, fits in perfectly with zero-emission trend ☘️. 💫 In the realm of our future ‘dreams’ remains the vision of offshore wind farms producing hydrogen locally from surplus energy, and oparated by hydrogen-fuelled vessels, powered from land or offshore bunkering units. Let's see what future brings ... Żaneta K. and Cluster of Hydrogen Technologies - thank you for the invitation and see you during future events 👋 #seatech #seatechengineering #shipdesign #PCHET #PCHET2024 #hydrogen #h2 #decarbonisation #wodór #technologiewodorowe #zielonywodór #dekarbonizacja

Last week was marked by WindEnergy Hamburg 2024 🌊 🌬. From the perspective of a ship design office, we see a lot of potential for collaboration and inviting you to Seatech Engineering Ltd booth in the following years seems to be a reasonable idea. Let's see what future brings 🤔 As we are involved in the design process of service vessels 🚢 for offshore wind market, we've been looking closely at this particular area and the activity of other design offices. Both in terms of the design and the ship itself, the scope of delivery within the market price differs significantly from what is defined in the requirements (or rather wishes) for Polish offices or shipyards. It is worth paying close attention to what you get at a certain price and comparing the results obtained with extreme care 🚨. Many thanks for interesting discussions and exchange of ideas to: James Bradford from North Star Steve Drysdale from Bibby Marine Piotr Redmerski and Aleksandra Ohl from PŻB Offshore Thomas van der Laan and Caspar Spreter from WINDEA Offshore Andrzej Czech from CRIST Offshore Sp. z o.o. Kris Stopierzynski from Baltic Diving Solutions Sp. z o.o. Paweł Weiner from MAG Offshore Bartłomiej Stępień from Elektryka Morska Stocznia Szczecińska "Wulkan" sp. z o.o.
