We’re working hard on the new version of react-native-video. It’s 𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗢 time! 🎥 The upcoming version 7 will bring many benefits. By separating the player from the view, we'll have built-in access to features like preloading - and that's just the start. We have a lot of exciting plans in store! Stay tuned! 🙂

Our team recently contributed to the React Native TV app template. The template mimics an OTT platform but initially only supported video thumbnails. We stepped in to enhance the user experience by adding a fully functional video player using react-native-video. 🚀 Here’s what we did: 1️⃣ Focus Management: Since the template is designed for TV, proper focus handling was critical. We integrated the react-tv-space-navigation library to ensure smooth and intuitive remote navigation. 2️⃣ Custom Controls for Android: While iOS default controls work beautifully, Android needed some extra love. We designed custom controls to elevate the experience on Android TV. 3️⃣ Web Support: To make the player more versatile, we implemented basic support for web-based TVs, broadening the platform’s reach. If you're working on similar projects or exploring React Native for TV, we’d love to hear from you!

As we know, the UI of a video player is often crucial in your apps! That's why we decided to take the next step and start maintaining a new library: react-native-video-player; which is built on react-native-video and features custom controls 🚀 Our latest release includes a fully rewritten architecture, TypeScript support, an upgraded react-native-video from v2 to v6 (!), the removal of unnecessary library dependency, and several bug fixes!

We’re proud to showcase our latest case study! 🚀 We teamed up with Learnn to take their video course platform to the next level, applying our expertise with the react-native-video library 🎥 Curious to see the results? Check out the full case study now! #AppOptimization #VideoPerformance #ReactNative
TWG on the big screen! While React Summit NYC Omar Diop just mentioned our contributions into making Learnn a better app by helping them get stability and reliability of their video player! The new area of production ready open source solutions in video industry has just started while me and Kræn Hansen were watching remote day conf. Learnn is a leading video course platform in Italy and we were reached out to resolve critical performance issues in their mobile app. The app, built with React Native and heavily reliant on the react-native-video library, was experiencing frequent crashes and poor performance on Android devices. As maintainers of react-native-video, we leveraged our expertise to tackle these challenges. After conducting an audit of Learnn's codebase, we identified several key issues. We upgraded the react-native-video library, patched critical issues, and optimized notification controls, which resulted in a significant boost in app stability and performance. This collaboration not only resolved immediate technical hurdles but also set the foundation for long-term improvements. To learn more about how we helped Learnn turn things around, check out the full case study! - If you face issues like that - just use consultancy and stop burning your time - if you want to build something new - use our brains so you don't need to test your patience Link available in the comments! #reactnativevideo #reactnative
