Carbon Footprint Calculation at Polpharma In 2023, we conducted our first calculation of the carbon footprint for products manufactured by Polpharma, following the GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard. The assessment covered 10 of our APIs, including: aniracetam, baclofen, etodolac and ticagrelor. This analysis encompassed emissions from the extraction of raw materials to the manufacturing of the finished products, taking into account emissions released into the environment. In 2024, we calculated the carbon footprint for the next batch of 10 products, including fenyl salicylate, tadalafil, and salicylamide. Thanks to the calculation, we know which stages of the product lifecycle need to be optimized and what we have to do to achieve it.   #carbonfootprint #polpharmaAPI #ProductLifeCycle

𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆   Polpharma Group's operations in Poland require significant heat and electricity for manufacturing processes. To ensure a reliable energy supply, we established an Energy Committee and appointed an Energy Strategy Advisor to create an Energy Master Plan that prioritizes green energy and aligns with our Sustainability Strategy, resulting in exemptions from power supply restrictions for critical plants.    In response to rising energy costs, we implemented smarter purchasing strategies, including:  - Optimizing energy purchases on the Polish Power Exchange (TGE)  - Anticipatory natural gas purchases  - Exploring green energy options through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)    We diversified our energy sources by switching to a lower-emission electricity supplier and operating a 2.4 MWp photovoltaic farm in Starogard Gdański, contributing 8% of the plant's energy demand. Additionally, we launched seven photovoltaic micro-installations.    Our Energy-Saving Programme (ESP) has saved about 10,000 MWh of electricity and 52,000 GJ of heat over the past five years. In 2023, we saved approximately 3,645 MWh of electricity and 17,494 GJ of heat, reducing our carbon footprint. Key savings initiatives included upgrading lighting systems, optimizing power contracts, and enhancing energy recovery systems.    These efforts are crucial to our commitment to sustainability and effective energy management. #energymanagement #ESG #Sustanability #EnergySaving

Our commitment to environmental responsibility is reflected in our governance and objectives, which include: • 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: We aim to reduce GHG emissions (CO2 equivalent) by 17% by 2025 in Scopes 1 and 2 (relative to 2021). • 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆: Implementing energy-efficient practices to lower our carbon footprint. • 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲: Conserving water and reducing waste from production processes by 5% until 2025 (relative to 2021). • 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀: Adopting ecodesign standards for the development of new substances and drugs. Our environmental management system is compliant with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, ensuring that we maintain high standards of environmental and occupational health and safety management. In 2023, we conducted 41 internal system audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
