Red Cat Secures U.S. Army Contract Red Cat Holdings was selected by the U.S. Army for its Short Range Reconnaissance (#SRR) Program of Record. This decision follows a comprehensive evaluation of Teal Drones' next-generation small unmanned aerial system (#UAS), conducted by various Army departments. The selection is based on factors including soldier feedback, technical performance, manufacturability, and cost. Red Cat plans to scale production of the Black Widow #drone to meet the Army's acquisition goal of 5,880 systems over the next five years. The American drone company Red Cat Holdings has been selected by the US Army for its Short Range Reconnaissance Program. As a participant in the program, Red Cat will provide its Black Widow drone that can fly for more than 35 minutes and stray as far as 5 miles away from its operator. Congratulation to our partners at Red Cat Holdings and Teal Drones on SRR award. Athena have been working with Teal for 2 years now, enabling detect, classify, battle track and sending reports native to ATAK as shown on a Teal 2 in this video. Athena's Computer Vision Pipeline and Battle Tracking Service provides Group 1 platforms with Group 3 level AI and autonomy. It can distinguish specific features of an object, track objects between occlusions, geolocate the entities for fire missions, and cluster entities to determine EN unit strength. It can rapidly retrain new object classes in minimal time with minimal imagery, and Human Factors trials by Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) found "Athena will provide the Australian Defence Force with a tactical edge, by providing enhanced SA; and importantly the legal and ethical guidance in the heat of battle during fires missions". This capability has been developed in partnership with Australian and US military end users over 5 years, to reduce the cognative burden on front line operators, rather than just providing screens filled with boxes of detections.
