Sobre nós

ARTS X MIND gathers a multidisciplinary team focused on Neuroarts, an innovative field researched by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Arts + Mind Lab, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. This new field studies the therapeutic impact of the arts in mental health. Fine arts, literature and music have proven to be beneficial for wellbeing, which has been confirmed by the 2019’s WHO report that describes significant psychological, physiological, social and behavioural improvements. ARTS X MIND implements this new scientific approach in Portugal, bringing together a group of experts in science, technology and different kinds of arts to foster mental development. Helping leaders use the science of Creativity x Wellbeing to GROW▪️Fierce50 Honoree: Health Innovation▪️Speaker, Consultant▪️Artist→PhD Scientist▪️Author:Arts on Prescription▪️Prev: Dir of Research, Johns Hopkins IAMLab

🎉One year ago, we launched “Arts on Prescription: A Field Guide for US Communities”! This free, groundbreaking resource has been providing a roadmap for new “arts on prescription” programs around the world. Grounded in the science of how arts, culture, and nature impact health, it helps us reimagine what "health" and "healthcare" can be. (Link in comments!) ✨To celebrate one year on, I'm sharing 3 new ways to dive in, think bigger, and turn ideas into action: ➖FIRST➖ 💻My online course "THINK BIGGER" guides users to reimagine 1) what you do, 2) where it 'belongs', and 3) how it matters. Based on my proven framework for cross-sector collabs, I created it to support 'arts on prescription' - and everyone who's building their work. Either of these sound familiar? ☑️ Many people get stuck when they can't accomplish a goal with their own know-how and resources, because they can’t see a way forward. If that's you, "Think Bigger" introduces *partnership* as your key to growth. If you’ve been trying to hustle on your own, or if you’re unsure how to connect with collaborators, clients, audiences, etc… this your next step to growth. ☑️ Many people shelve great ideas when their *existing/known* collaborators don’t buy in, because they can’t see other options. If that's you, "Think Bigger" blows up limited ideas of partnership — with practical tools for *finding* and *reaching out* to vital partners you’ve never considered. Course link in comments; see you inside 🙌 ➖SECOND➖ 🛠️ To celebrate 1 year of the Field Guide, I’m opening the option to book my virtual workshop for your group: “Arts on Prescription: A Workshop to Move You from Idea to Action.” First developed for CA For The Arts, this 2-hour experience is interactive and practical — helping your team generate ideas and action steps for your unique situation. I can book just 4 workshops this fall; first come first served. DM me to request info! ➖THIRD➖ 🎤 I'm booking talks/keynotes for 2025. If you’re planning an event, grab the info-link below, or DM me✨ Thank you to all who've made this Guide and its ideas GO. Arts on Prescription is a reminder that *everything* can be reimagined; even our most complex systems. So here's to your next 12 months, and to reimagining that ignites Growth. #innovation #artsonprescription #creativity #wellbeing #reimagine #leadership

How Creativity Shapes Our Brain Neuroaesthetics is a captivating field that bridges art and neuroscience, revealing how our brains respond to artistic experiences. Let’s dive into the fascinating world of neuroplasticity. 🧠 Neuroplasticity and Creativity: A Dynamic Duo Neuroplasticity refers to the brain’s extraordinary ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. It’s like a mental renovation project, where our brain adapts, learns, and grows based on our experiences. Now, imagine this process intertwined with creativity, the result is truly transformative. 🎨 Art Therapy: A Gateway to Neuroplastic Change Art therapy harnesses the power of neuroplasticity. Here’s how it works: 1. Self-Expression: When we create art, whether through painting, sculpture, or music, we tap into our innermost thoughts and emotions. This self-expression activates neural pathways, promoting plastic changes in the brain. 2. Healing and Growth: Art therapy provides a safe space for individuals to explore their feelings, memories, and traumas. As they engage in artistic expression, their brains adapt, heal, and grow. It’s like a workout for the mind, sculpting new connections and promoting resilience. 3. Personal Insight: The act of creating art inspires profound inner change. Clients discover insights unique to their own experiences, driving neuroplasticity. Motivation and engagement play a crucial role—art becomes a catalyst for positive transformation. 4. Beyond Words: Sometimes, emotions are too complex for verbal expression. Art bridges that gap, allowing us to communicate feelings that words fail to capture. In doing so, it rewires our brain circuits, fostering emotional well-being. Whether you’re an artist, an art lover, or simply curious about the brain’s creative potential, remember this: Every stroke of the brush, every note played, and every dance step contributes to your brain’s beautiful remodeling process. How do you help your brain’s remodeling system? Share your thoughts below 💭🎨🧠 The Living Art course is created by Robert Fritz. The bestselling author of the book “The Path of Least Resistance”.

ROP (Return on Potential) is my favorite acronym although I’m an MD, PhD, MBA, CFA & a bunch of other acronyms people think matters. 4x’ing ROP @ Harvard, MIT, & Stanford & Founder/CEO of a multibillion dollar VC firm.

There is reality… …and then there is art. There is nature as it is… …and then there is a photograph of nature. And even when there is art… …the question arises… …is it real? And what is meant by that is it computer generated, altered, or filtered… …or straight from a human source? Yet might we allow ourselves the latitude… …every once in a while… …to blur the lines… …and conclude there is a difference with little distinction?

A Song in the Dark I sent the following message to my friend and WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Arts and Health Renée Fleming: At the Kyiv Philharmonia concert, the bombing caused a blackout in the last movement of the program. In the darkness the orchestra’s sound collapsed into cacophonous chaos. For long moments we sat silent in the dark. The audience then roared with applause. Once the eyes of the musicians adjusted to the darkness and could make out the conductor’s silhouette, they began the movement again. As the piece reached its climax, we could feel the vibration of the back up generators kicking in, the lights slowly grew warm like a dawn as the music came to an end. Here is Renée’s response: I read this to the entire convocation today at the start of the Aspen Music Festival. People were so moved! Hundreds of young musicians heard this. I ended by saying ‘what you do matters.’ Thanks Renée. True for us all.

Have you heard about Neuroaesthetics?💡 Neuroaesthetics is an exciting field in cognitive neuroscience exploring the biological foundations of our aesthetic experiences. These experiences engage sensory-motor, emotion-valuation, and meaning-knowledge systems in our brain. Did you know a simple painting can evoke emotions too complex for words? By examining brain mechanisms, neuroaesthetics helps us understand the deep personal and cultural meanings we attach to art and beauty. Here are a few benefits of neuroaesthetics. Which one of these resonates most with you? 1. Deeper cultural and personal insight through art and expression. 2. Cognitive stimulation by enhancing attention, perception, and memory. 3. Therapeutic benefits for mood and mental health and enhanced well-being from connecting with art and cultural identity. 4. Stress reduction and relaxation through engaging with beautiful art and landscapes. 5. Emotional enrichment through complex and subtle emotional experiences. We'd love to hear your thoughts 💭 The Living Art course is created by Robert Fritz. The bestselling author of the book “The Path of Least Resistance”.

  • An important film showcasing the significance of design in healing, teaching, connecting and our overall sense of belonging. Did you know that using art featuring natural landscapes can help patients heal faster and require less medication? An that architectural curves can make people feel safer? You can learn more about in the film. #artsxmind #neuroaesthetics #neuroarchitecture #neurodesign #artsandmind #spacesthatheal #whatdesigncando #design

Refik Anadol definitely needs no introduction, but here we go... He is a pioneering artist and director known for his innovative use of data and machine intelligence in creating immersive and dynamic visual experiences. His work often explores the intersection of art, technology, and architecture, transforming data into abstract, yet deeply emotive visual narratives. His latest experience, "Inner Portrait," which formed part of Art Basel was born out of Refik's exploration of the concept of portraiture in the age of machine intelligence. Collaborating with Turkish Airlines, he worked closely with four individuals who had never traveled before, bringing them to their dream destinations. By collecting real-time brain and biosignals, Anadol transformed these data points into unique AI Data Sculptures. Each sculpture captured the participants' emotions, goosebumps, and feelings, infusing every movement, color, pattern, and texture with their lived experiences. The result was a powerful and deeply personal exploration of human emotion through the lens of advanced technology. #RefikAnadol #InnerPortrait #ArtBasel #ImmersiveArt #AIArt #DataSculptures #ArtAndTechnology #MachineIntelligence #ContemporaryArt #ArtInnovation #DigitalArt #TurkishAirlines #ArtExperience #BrainSignals #EmotionalArt #Molten #MoltenImmersiveArt #MoltenAffect #Curation #Curator #ArtCuration #ArtCurator #DorothyDiStefano
