🔬 Introducing the NEUROSENSE Research Team Series! 🚀
As we return refreshed and energized after the summer break, we're excited to kick off a new series highlighting the incredible research institutions that are integral to the NEUROSENSE project. These teams have been hard at work, and their dedication is key to our mission of developing a SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) predictive medical device prototype.
🔬 Spotlight on i3S: Pioneering Research in Health
The Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde) is a leading private non-profit biomedical research unit renowned for its multidisciplinary approach and strategic partnerships with U.Porto schools, major hospitals in Northern Portugal, and key players in the health sector. This collaborative environment fosters groundbreaking research, particularly in cancer, infectious diseases, neurological disorders, and regenerative medicine.
i3S's Role in NEUROSENSE: At the heart of the NEUROSENSE project, i3S is home to a talented team focused on sample bioanalysis. Led by Hugo Osório, Head of the Proteomics Facility, and PhD students Ana Pinto Branco Teixeira and Nelson Leça, the team meticulously processes and analyzes mouse and human samples using state-of-the-art Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS).
Key members Carlos Conde (Project Coordinator) and Miguel França a (Project Manager) are also instrumental in ensuring the seamless execution of the NEUROSENSE initiative, contributing significantly to our efforts to predict and prevent SUDEP.
Stay tuned as we continue to showcase the brilliant minds driving NEUROSENSE forward!
