𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬! Today, we’re thrilled to share that we have submitted our very first Novel Foods application to the European Commission for our cultivated beef fat — making it the first submission in the EU’s history for a beef product. Cultivated fat is what gives meat its signature taste, aroma, and mouthfeel. This is a major step toward bringing our first Mosa Burgers to consumers across Europe. Compiling our dossier was an enormous team effort: * Nearly 1,000 pages of rigorous data and analysis * 450 samples and 652 analytical documents reviewed * 6 accredited labs involved, 23 new analytical methods developed, and 148 parameters tested per production batch * Over 10 Mosa Meat employees working for two years to make this happen Once the validity check by the EC is complete, our submission goes to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for further review. We believe the EU’s Novel Foods framework is the global gold standard for food safety and quality, and we’re proud to work with them to meet these high expectations. Stay tuned for updates as we pioneer a new era of delicious, kind burgers!

Portugal takes a step towards a national plant-based food plan! 🌱 The Portuguese government has approved a National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), including the creation of a national strategy to promote plant-based protein consumption, thanks to ProVeg Portugal's efforts! 🫛 The document states the need to reduce the consumption of animal-based proteins and to promote plant-based alternatives, and demands the following key action measures: - Developing a national strategy to promote plant-based protein consumption: The need to boost the production and consumption of plant-based proteins, especially legumes (linking it to the sustainability and healthiness of individual dietary choices). - Supporting self-sufficiency in protein crops and advancing food security. - Expanding plant-based options in public canteens: Implementing training programs and increasing the availability of plant-based meals. This is an encouraging move for a plant-powered future! Which other countries should implement a similar national strategy? Let us know ⬇️ #ProVeg #PlantBasedProtein #AlternativeProtein
