In our latest Meet the Team, we chatted to Jorge Serras, one of our talented Full-Stack Developers. Having been with our team for three years, he’s been hard at work developing and enhancing internal applications and client solutions. A Full-Stack Developer’s role includes building web apps from the ground up and optimizing features with the latest tech to ensure performance and quality. Jorge himself calls Sesimbra, Portugal home. About 40km South of Lisbon, Jorge describes it as a blend of scenic beauty with rich cultural heritage. He recommends anyone exploring Portugal visits Sesimbra for its historic landmarks, the nearby Arrábida Natural Park, and celebrated seafood and fishing traditions! Over his three years with Cyrex, and recently Magic Media, Jorge has worked on a range of diverse projects from blockchain to gaming and e-commerce sites. The one that stands out, however, is his work on the complex and impactful application developed for the clients at the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe or PRACE and the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking or EuroHPC JU. As institutions providing world-class supercomputing resources for European research, there are extensive pre-defined processes for those applying to use said resources and significant amounts of these requests. The application Cyrex created dynamically manages each request’s stages, deadlines, permissions, and roles. This is a flexible, scalable tool that streamlines the management and proposal curating ensuring an effortless flow for all involved. Outside of this tremendous work, Jorge spends a lot of his time gaming and taking care of some terrariums! These self-sustaining ecosystems are filled with a diverse range of plants! He’s also very passionate about DIY projects, always eyeing up future purchases and whether he could build it himself instead! For Jorge, his passion in the tech industry is all about its innovation and problem-solving. He enjoys that there’s always something new to learn and new, diverse teams to collaborate with. And that’s why he enjoys his work with Cyrex as it’s built on collaboration and innovation. Whether he’s working with cutting-edge technology or embracing the continuous growth and improvement that the Cyrex team encourages, Jorge says it’s inspiring to be a part of the team as it encourages creative solutions, as well as personal and professional development.
