We reached another significant milestone in the DISCRETION project: Test Readiness Review 🏅 This event was hosted by the Quantum Communications Group (Instituto de Telecomunicações - Aveiro) in Aveiro. Among the attendees were the Head of the Center for Communications, Information, Cyberspace and Space from the Estado Maior Geral das Forças Armadas and a representative from the Gabinete Nacional de Segurança. The European Commission also followed the project’s progress online. During the event, two use cases were demonstrated. One about the setup and mission phases of Software-Defined Radios (SDR), utilizing keys generated and distributed through CV-QKD. And another about a video conference secured with encryption using keys generated and distributed by CV-QKD. The entire system is managed by a resilient Software-Defined Network (SDN). Last week we had the honour of welcoming the master's students from different areas and universities who are members of the EuroDefense-Portugal group 🌐 🔐 Nuno Ávila and Catarina Bastos presented Deimos, focussing on its know-how and expertise in the areas of #defence #securitycommunications and #quantumtechnologies. The EuroDefense-Portugal Study Centre is a non-governmental organisation with the aim of promoting knowledge and debate on issues related to national security and defense, and how companies and research centres act as important agents in the development and technological advances of these areas in Portugal. Today Nuno Ávila was attending the 7th New Space Atlantic Summit – The Future of Space Economy, organized by Portugal Space | Agência Espacial Portuguesa at EMSA (European Maritime Safety Agency), Lisbon. 🌎 With the aim of opening up discussions on the economic future of space, Nuno was invited to take part in the session ‘Space Economy: Challenges for the Portuguese Ecosystem’ to talk about the topic in question and bring perspectives based on Deimos' know-how and what we can expect in the future. Deimos Engenharia has just signed a collabration protocol with Força Aérea Portuguesa | Portuguese Air Force to expand its space activities in Portugal 🌟

Last Friday we had the honour of participating with our director Nuno Ávila in the 6th edition of the “Jornadas Aeroespaciais” organised by the Força Aérea Portuguesa | Portuguese Air Force on the theme of “A Força Aérea e o Espaço”. With the aim of sharing special capabilities and potential solutions to help promote national development in the #aerospace field, Nuno took part in the strategic panel “Os Pilares da Capacitação – a tecnologia”, with a speech on the theme “Capacitação Nacional – Observação do Espaço”. We are grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to look at the #future of #spaceexploration together with other professionals in the field.
