Laxton provided rugged, ergonomic hand-held devices designed for Uganda’s diverse terrain, ensuring reliable data collection under all conditions and helping the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) to overcome traditional paper-based censuses' challenges. 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮'𝘀 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝗜𝗗 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝟖 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 🇪🇹   In 2021, 97% of Ethiopians lacked a legal or digital ID, significantly hindering their access to essential services and economic opportunities. In response, Ethiopia embarked on a comprehensive economic reform agenda to ensure macroeconomic stability and unlock its growth potential. A key element to achieve this is the introduction of a National Digital ID, designed to enhance the digital economy, improve governance, and facilitate access to services.   𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗗 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 (𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗣) is aligned with the ten global principles of 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗜𝗗𝟰𝗗), with a strong emphasis on data protection and efficient service delivery. This approach ensures inclusivity and security, particularly in rural areas where birth registration rates are low. Ethiopia has set an ambitious target to register 𝟵𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀 with a secure digital ID by 2030. 🚀   At the core of the 𝗙𝗔𝗬𝗗𝗔 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗗 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 is MOSIP, which provides a robust and scalable foundation to support the programme's goals.
