🆃🅷🅴 🅼o🆁🅴 🆈o🆄 🅺🅽o🆆 Black Friday Cyber Monday Singles’ day . . . sales sales sales We always want something more, something better, because we deserve it. We work, we struggle, and we hustle. Life is too damn hard, and responsibilities too damn many. And when we buy, especially at a better deal, we are in control. And it feels good. That moment of control? That rush of satisfaction? Well, they don’t last. GOOD NEWS? It’s not totally our fault, because the world is built to make us buy. BAD NEWS? Not only someone, somewhere, worked tirelessly to produce that thing we purchased on a whim, but resources were extracted, and emissions were released. Now what if we paused for a moment and asked: -Do I actually need this? -Will it add value to my life? -Can I go by without it? -Am I chasing that fleeting rush of control or satisfaction? Remember: the best deal isn’t the one with the deepest discount, it’s the one you won’t regret later. You've been cool'd! #themoreyaknow

A voluntary movement for a better planet.
Sobre nós
We do cleanUp campaigns in neighbourhoods, parks, and protected areas every weekend. We collect trash and cigarette butts. Our goal is to make people in the community aware of the existence and quantity of waste in the environment and the problem of waste pollution in general. Through our campaigns, we also try to demonstrate the importance of active volunteering and the power that small actions can have in the fight against pollution. Thus, we try to encourage people to become active agents of change for a better planet. We try to give purpose to the trash we collect. For instance, all the cigarette butts we collect, we donate to Project Beata Circular, which recycles them using mushroom cultivation to decontaminate the cigarette butts and use the final product as ecological construction materials. Using our social networks, we try to demonstrate more sustainable habits and solutions in our daily lives in order to motivate people to integrate circular economy concepts into their lives, such as reusing, refusing, repairing, or giving new purpose to things they already have.

🆃🅷🅴 🅼o🆁🅴 🆈o🆄 🅺🅽o🆆 !The blame game! During our clean-ups, we often hear comparisons and blame directed at other countries, big companies, or groups of people. Let's challenge this mindset and inspire a shift in how we view our responsibilities. It’s not just about my trash or your trash; it’s about our planet. It's a collective issue that requires a collective solution. Blaming others or taking comfort in comparisons with countries with more waste only distracts us from the real issue. Saying, "At least we're not as bad as them" or “It’s them that throw trash, not me” only encourages inaction and does nothing to solve the problem We also hear the argument that big companies are the main responsible, so individual actions don’t matter. Large companies indeed play a significant role in environmental degradation, however, this doesn't excuse us. Our actions, no matter how small and insignificant they seem, have a powerful impact collectively. By donating, reducing single-use plastics, reusing and participating in community clean-ups, we contribute to a better planet. Our choices as consumers drive companies' behaviour. What we choose to buy matters, what we demand from the market matters. And let’s start drawing inspiration not from those who are doing worse, but from those who are doing better. 🆃🅷🅴 🅼🅾🆁🅴 🆈🅾🆄 🅺🅽🅾🆆 As humans, we seem to have this constant need of petting, domesticating or even using wild animals for our amusement. And that’s not cool. Why? First of all, it causes severe stress and anxiety for the animals, suppressing their natural behaviours, and often leading to physical harm. Also, wild animals are unpredictable and can be aggressive towards people, if they feel threatened or stressed. Second, the environments in which these animals are kept are typically inadequate, the food doesn’t meet their nutritional needs, which will eventually lead to their physical and mental deterioration. In addition, when animals are being used for human amusement, have detrimental effects on conservation efforts, contributing to population declines and disrupting ecosystems. While some people believe they have good intentions when interacting with wild animals, these intentions do not alleviate the stress, anxiety, and physical harm, nor do they address the suppression of natural behaviours and loss of autonomy. True respect for animals means allowing them to live freely in their natural habitats and supporting genuine conservation initiatives. You've been cool'd! #becool #themoreyouknow

🆃🅷🅴 🅼o🆁🅴 🆈O🆄 🅺🅽o🆆 Oh shit! nature calls! When nature calls, nature calls. And doing it outside, If done correctly, it isn't wrong at all. The problem is knowing how to do it right. When using nature as a toilet, we shouldn't just think about our urgent need, but also the impact the result will have, visually and invisibly. The visual part is obvious, you shouldn’t leave the shitty result and the paper exposed and visible. It destroys the landscape for the next person's selfies. The invisible impact is actually the worst. Most animals use poo and pee, among other things, as a way of establishing territory and looking for mates. So if we leave ours there, we could be interfering with this natural communication process. In addition to that, our poop can contaminate watersheds or groundwater, which is a process of one year of decomposing. Then there's the question of paper. What kind of paper do we use? Is it real paper? Well, the truth is that if it's not 100% recycled or bamboo, it's not organic or natural, and as such, it will leave toxic components in the soil. What's the solution then? -choose the place carefully and avoid proximity to water bodies; -make a hole in the ground and cover everything in the end; -opt for real toilet paper to clean yourself or take it with you after you are done and put it in your "toilet" bag. 🆃🅷🅴 🅼o🆁🅴 🆈o🆄 🅺🅽o🆆 Feral cats Dilemma (?) Let's talk about a sensitive topic — feral cats. So, what's the problem with feral (aka stray or free-ranging) cats? Well, there are several. For starters, they impact wildlife through predation, competition, the spread of diseases, or even cross-breeding with wild-type species. It is known that feral cats kill millions of birds and small mammals every year worldwide. That includes species that can help us balance other "inconvenient" animals like mosquitos, cockroaches, mice (by being their natural predator), etc. But potentially also killing endangered species. Due to their abundance, they may restrict the territory of wild animals, too. And, since they live side-by-side with humans, they became adapted to diseases that wildlife may not. Then, it's very unlikely for cats to have direct predators (or natural ones, for that matter). Cats produce dozens of cats within a few months. Feeding is not enough, on the contrary, it contributes to the overpopulation crisis. Do you love cats? Have them in your space. Are there feral cats where you live? Encourage and support local entities in conducting sterilisation campaigns. You've been cool'd! #themoreyouknow #becoolthursday

🆃🅷🅴 🅼0🆁🅴 🆈o🆄 🅺🅽o🆆 One of the most received comments during an environmental clean-up is, "But it's not my trash; why should I pick it up?" Eeny, meeny, miny, moe... It's not about the cleaning but the long-term impact it has on you, the society and the environment. By participating in environmental clean-ups, you're not just picking up trash but also shaping a better future for all. And since these clean-ups often involve community participation, they encourage a sense of unity and responsibility. Working together towards a common goal strengthens social bonds and promotes civic engagement. The best part... spending time outdoors in nature is essential for our well-being. It helps us feel better and less stressed and, consequently, makes us better humans. It's a win-win. Every piece of trash collected is a testament to the power of collective action and the profound impact individuals can have on the world. If you live in the Algarve, you are free and welcome to join our clean-ups. You've cool'd. #themoreyouknow #becoolthursday

🆃🅷🅴 🅼o🆁🅴 🆈o🆄 🅺🅽o🆆 We have received this comment "lack of information" in various cases, especially when people wanted to justify their lack of participation in campaigns and events. Is it a lack of information or a lack of motivation to find the correct information? And we get it! With the rise of the internet and social media, we're constantly bombarded with vast amounts of information from various sources. This flood of data can make it challenging to filter out what's relevant or reliable, leading to confusion and disengagement rather than empowerment. To make matters worse, the constant barrage of information and stimuli in the digital age has been linked to shortened attention spans and reduced capacity for deep, sustained focus. This can make it harder for people to engage with complex or nuanced topics. The very presence of information online doesn't guarantee that we'll learn from it; we expect knowledge to come to us effortlessly, but we should actively seek out and engage with that information. Instead of blaming a lack of information, we should acknowledge our responsibility to seek knowledge and critically evaluate the information we encounter.
