Meet our Intern of the Week, Lauren Diamond, from Brown University! This past summer, Lauren completed a marketing internship with Virtuleap in Lisbon, where she was nominated by the startup’s Head of Partnerships, Bebiana Sá Moura. Over the summer, Lauren contributed to several key initiatives, including creating targeted sales materials, developing communication templates, and identifying new business opportunities. According to Bebiana, these efforts were “aimed at enhancing our client engagement and sales strategies…and her initiative and dedication made a meaningful impact on our team’s objectives.” We’re thrilled for you, Lauren, and wish you the best in all your future endeavors! The last time I was at Web Summit was in 2019, back when Hossein Jalali and I were fresh-faced founders at Virtuleap and VR was still finding its footing in a pre-COVID world. Now, five years later, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. Thousands of clinical studies, countless healthcare providers, and an entire ecosystem of startups have proven that VR isn’t just a fleeting trend -- it’s a powerful tool helping us tackle some of healthcare’s greatest challenges. I'm excited to be here again and to see what the next wave of innovation will bring.

Four years ago, Amir Bozorgzadeh and I made a bold bet: the future of health lies in understanding the human brain by engaging it in ecological and multi-sensory environments. While the past few decades have revolutionized our understanding of physical wellness, teaching us how to care for our bodies and even delay trips to the doctor, mental wellbeing has largely remained an afterthought. This depth of data supports earlier and more precise detection, potentially identifying cognitive decline at the subjective stage, years before traditional tests detect mild cognitive impairment. By feeding this volumetric data into AI-learning algorithms, we go beyond real-time calculations of cognitive load and stress levels to uncover deeper patterns that emerge only when a test captures and engages with the tapestry of embodied data.”
