🔊 New project announcement! The JTF* project MYCEPAD has officially kicked off! In this project, co-financed by the European Union, we will develop paper products with green chemistry based on mycelium. 💡 WHY The Dutch paper industry produces about 2.8 M tonnes/year at 18 production sites. Currently, mainly oil-based additives/auxiliary agents are still used to obtain the desired process and product properties. Retailers and brand-owners (business) explicitly ask to use more sustainable additives in packaging 🤝 PROJECT PARTNERS 🌱 BioscienZ will be cultivating the mycelium, while ⛓ B4Plastics will focus on crafting the green chemistry solutions. 📝 UHasselt will provide crucial insights into barrier properties, and 🌍 Millvision will lead the application research.
