Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fanar was launched at the Global AI Summit. Created by the Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and endorsed by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Fanar is a pioneering AI Large Language Model (LLM) with a deep comprehension of the Arabic language and culture. بحضور معالي الشيخ محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن جاسم آل ثاني، رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية، انطلقت اليوم فعاليات القمة العالمية للذكاء الاصطناعي قطر 2024 في مركز الدوحة للمعارض والمؤتمرات، إلى جانب عدد من أصحاب السعادة الوزراء وكبار المسؤولين من داخل الدولة وخارجها. خلال حفل الافتتاح، دشن معالي الشيخ محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن جاسم آل ثاني المشروع العربي للذكاء الاصطناعي "فنار"، الذي يهدف إلى تعزيز مكانة اللغة العربية في مجال تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي عالميًا. وقد تم تطوير هذا المشروع بالتعاون بين معهد قطر لبحوث الحوسبة بجامعة حمد بن خليفة ووزارة الاتصالات وتكنولوجيا المعلومات. During the opening, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani inaugurated "Fanar," the Arab AI initiative. A collaboration between the Qatar Computing Research Institute at Hamad Bin Khalifa University and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, this project aims to bolster the global prominence of the Arabic language in AI technologies.
