Project & Cost Management for Microsoft In 2022, Microsoft expanded in Qatar with this stunning new office on the 27th floor of Burj Al Fardan, Lusail, consolidating two existing offices into 1,400m² of beautifully designed workspace. Serin managed all aspects of the project, ensuring smooth local execution. Al Shahaniya SC 2 - 1 Al Duhail Believing in the process There were celebrations on Friday night as Al Shahaniya SC recorded their first victory of the season in their return to Qatar’s top football division, beating current league leaders Al Duhail. The team had registered just two points in their opening five fixtures, however on a scorching evening at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium the team defied the odds against their until-now unbeaten opposition. After just twenty minutes, Dutch striker Pelle van Amersfoort took his chance and opened the scoring, with an assist from his Belgian colleague Francesco Antonucci. Al Duhail quickly rallied, but the Al Shahaniya defence soaked up the pressure and rallied, and just twelve minutes later Amersfoot and Antonucci combined again to double the home side’s lead. Midway through the second half, Al Duhail finally managed to break down the steadfast Al Shahaniya defence and brought one back in the 74th minute. The visitors’ pressure mounted but, with an attitude of progressive play and discipline, Al Shahaniya were able to stay strong in defence and mount numerous counterattacks, meaning Al Duhail were constantly stretched. Finally, after 97 gruelling minutes of determined effort, the referee blew the whistle signalling the end of the game and an odds-defying victory for the newly promoted side. After the match, Head Coach Álvaro Mejía praised his players and explained that he knew that this type of performance was possible: “To play and win against perhaps the best team in Qatar tonight is a fantastic achievement for us, and all credit must go to the players. As coach, I try to instil the mentality that as long as we play to our strengths and have belief, we can beat even the toughest of opponents. It is still very early in the season, but this is a statement of our intent and the perfect example of what we can do when we focus on ourselves, and believe in the process that we live by every day.” This year, Serin has become even more involved with the club, and are first-team kit sponsors. When he had recovered his composure, Company founder Christopher Rodia had time to congratulate the team: “The victory tonight is the perfect example of how and why the club and Serin have the perfect partnership. We both strongly believe that, for any type of challenge, if everything is planned and prepared for down to the smallest detail, there is nothing that cannot be achieved. Al Shahaniya SC tonight showed that if every member of a team has the same vision then they can become more than the sum of their parts, and should never be underestimated. Everyone is delighted for the team, and we’re certain that this success will continue.”
