Bhavin Shah is the Managing Partner of Oak Lane Partners, a private investment company he founded in 2012 to invest in middle market businesses globally. Shah has been a successful owner, investor and operator over the past 20 years, accumulating a successful track record and substantial hands-on operational experience across industries and geographies.
On the investment side, Shah has owned, (re)structured and managed numerous investments globally, which have ranged from investments in public and private companies, real estate assets and other opportunistic situations. Prior to launching Oak Lane Partners, Shah was Co-head of the Middle Market Distressed Team at Mount Kellett Capital, a special situations-focused investment firm with approximately $7 billion of capital commitments. Immediately prior, he was a Managing Director of Oak Hill Advisors, a $20+ billion credit-oriented investment firm where his responsibilities included investing in a $500 million dedicated special opportunities fund. Shah also helped lead The Carlyle Group’s special situation business and Soros Fund Management (and their affiliates’) infrastructure and technology investments in Asia.
Shah also has built substantial operational expertise over his career – he has operated, turned around and grown both asset-intensive and service-based companies and troubled real estate assets. Shah worked with McKinsey & Company and Questor Partners during his career assisting complex restructurings and operational turnarounds. Shah also served at The White House as a Legislative Assistant to the President and continues to be an active contributor to numerous educational equity and technology advancement initiatives globally. Shah has Dual BA degrees in Economics and Political Science with honors and distinction from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and an MBA from Harvard University.
