Happy 10th Anniversary to all of you - Sus Inima! This year we celebrate a milestone that belongs to all of us - 10 years since Sus Inima was founded. Ten years of standing beside people affected by cancer, helping in whatever way we can, and making sure no one feels alone in their fight. It all started in 2015, with three people whose lives had been turned upside down by cancer. They understood the fear, the challenges. And they decided to do something about it. At first, it was just listening. Talking to people, understanding their struggles. What we saw broke our hearts: patients giving up treatment because they couldn't afford to pay for accommodation in the city. Families traveling hundreds of kilometers every day just to keep their loved ones in care. In 2019, we opened our doors in Sibiu, offering free accommodation so every patient has a fair chance at treatment. It is located near Sibiu County Hospital and has a maximum capacity of 8 people. To make life even easier for patients, we have decided to offer free accommodation to their carers as well, and also providing them with a warm, healthy lunch cooked by a local partner. In 2020 we expanded this service to Bucharest, opening Sus Inima House in Bucharest, with a maximum capacity of 16 people, close to the treatment centers in the capital. In 2021 we opened a second house in Sibiu, to offer 6 more accommodation spaces. In 2022-2023, we expanded our services to include Oncology Support Centers —spaces where patients can access psychological therapy, second opinions, social assistance, cancer patient navigator, nutrition, and art therapy for free. Since then we’ve grown and from 2019 until now 2025, we’ve helped: 🏠 3,789 unique beneficiaries; 🌙 19,488 nights of free accommodation; 🍲 8,725 warm, nutritious meals; 💬 5,953 therapy sessions; 💬 30.000 reached by our educational and preventive awareness campaigns.   Every service we provide is completely free of charge for cancer patients and their families - no one should have to choose between their health and their financial stability. We had 5 amazing days at FOCUS IN THE PARK 2024 🔥 Carmen Chindris: "Four months ago, Adrian Oprea and I were thinking: how cool would it be to take part in the Focus in the Park festival? So, I went to ask Sebastian Marcovici (the organizer) if he would welcome us. I had only had 2-3 interactions with Sebi before... but he said very casually: 'Why not? For your cause, whenever you want.' And so it was. He offered us a 50% discount on the ticket for the whole festival for people who participated in Bike4Cancer Sibiu... Then came the day of setting up the tent. He offered us the best spot, right next to the stage, so everyone could see us! What I can say is: - We enjoyed 5 days of great music in the park. - I reconnected with friends I had missed so much. - We met Sus Inima beneficiaries again and enjoyed being together. - We provided information about the association's services to people who need us and who will contact us. - We distributed information and leaflets about screening. - We saw the joy on children's faces as they received a Sus Inima balloon. - We received donations and warm hugs. - I met people from all over the country who had come to the festival. - Although I thought it couldn't get better, I gained even more respect and admiration for Auntie Tina (Filofteia Cojocaru), who set up, prepared, stayed from start to finish with a smile on her face and all the dedication in the world—she's simply the best! - We got to spend more time with our colleague Alina Vestemean, getting to know each other better, and she's amazing! - And... most importantly... we were together!
