Three years ago, today, Russia launched its large-scale illegal invasion of Ukraine. A brutal attack, in violation of all international rules. It is an attack on our security in Europe, on human rights and our international law. The Netherlands' military, economic, humanitarian, political and moral support for Ukraine will continue undiminished, for as long as it takes. Find out more about our support below. 🇳🇱🤝🇺🇦

Shocked and very sad about the theft of Romanian treasures from the Drents Museum in the Netherlands, the Dutch Embassy is following closely the developments on this tragic happening. From the very first moments there have been close contacts between our governments, our police teams and between the teams of the National History Museum of Romania and the Drents Museum in the Netherlands. They all put a tremendous effort into ensuring good collaboration at all levels. We remain optimistic that the investigations will lead to the identification of the suspects and to the return of the treasures to Romania as soon as possible. We share the statements on X(Twitter) of Dutch Minister Veldkamp of Foreign Affairs posted on Saturday and Monday:

Ambassador Willemijn van Haaften spoke at the New Year's reception that the Embassy held together with the Netherlands-Romanian Chamber of Commerce (NRCC). Like the previous year, in 2025 the European Union will face geopolitical and other challenges. It is essential that the Union invests in innovation and smart use of new technologies, and Dutch and Romanian business have a big role in those investments. The embassy is as committed as ever to support Dutch businesses and is looking forward to continue to work together with NRCC, its Taskforces and its members. #NLinBusiness #NL🤝RO #DutchCompanyInRomania

In the recent Wetskills competition, four teams of Romanian and Dutch students joined forces to discuss possible solutions for water-related problems. Team 4 was asked to think of a solution for waste water treatment in a setting of small scale eco-tourism, one of the sectors that is developing quickly in Romania. Of course, in this setting, a nature-based solution would be optimal. In the proposal of team 4, reeds and bacteria help to turn waste water into useful compost and biogas. In the recent Wetskills competition, four teams of Romanian and Dutch students joined forces to discuss possible solutions for water-related problems. Drought is increasingly becoming a problem for Romania and for Romanian farmers. That is why team 3 was given the question: How can River Basin Authority Jiu tackle drought in its basin by using nature-based solutions and engage the stakeholders? The team showed how nature-based solutions can help in this case. Using locally available materials, and locally available labour force, costs can be lower as well than traditional solutions. See their poster below. #WaterIsLife #WetSkillsRomania #NL🤝RO

Ambassador Van Haaften visited Craiova, where she met mayor Lia Olguta Vasilescu. The ambassador was briefed on the history of the beautiful city and its ambitions to develop its tourism and its service industry. The ambassador saw with own eyes that Dutch companies can do well in Craiova as she visited the campus of NetRom Software. This #DutchCompanyInRomania settled in Craiova in 1999 and grew from two people in one living room to 500 employees now. The ambassador was shown around the new campus that is being built at the moment. The company has a good working cooperation with the local university and high schools to scout talent and offer young people options to do quality work in their own home city
