CLARION STAKEHOLDERS WORKSHOP – CONSTANTA PORT On December 11th, 2024, the first online workshop held by the National Company Maritime Ports Administration SA, as a partner in the CLARION project, event organized together with the Valencia Port Foundation. The workshop was dedicated to the stakeholders of the Port of Constanta and is part of a series of 4 similar events organized in the ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp-Brugge, Hamburg and, last but not least, Constanta. The meeting enjoyed the virtual presence of 30 participants from various backgrounds such as maritime and inland port operators, the "Mircea cel Bătrân" Naval Academy, the Constanţa Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Navigation and Agriculture, the Constanta City Hall and the River Administration of the Lower Danube Galaţi. The event was also attended by members of the CLARION consortium. The main objective of the workshop was a general presentation of the CLARION project, as well as of the Project Demonstrator 9 – Federated learning for cadastral measurements and inland water level forecasting which will be carried out by the Constanta Port Administration together with its technical partner ICCS (Greece). This demonstrator will allow the implementation a synergistic framework to combine openly available polarimetry data coming from the Copernicus Sentinel-6 missions with in-situ sensors data, in a common processing cycle, towards the extraction of inland water level predictions and cadastral measurements at the Port of Constanta. Novel ML-based tools will be developed, tested and validated to support data augmentation for river networks. The pilot ideas presented referred to port vulnerabilities related to climate change, prediction of unmonitored river-related variables (water depth, water flow) along the Cernavoda Lock – Galati Port pathway, as part of Constanta Port hinterland, and cadastral mapping scenarios using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The end of the workshop was an interactive one, organized by ICCS, which invited the participants to fill in a live questionnaire designed to identify the participants' feedback, especially regarding the proposed pilot project ideas. The event ended on an optimistic note in the hope that the group of stakeholders will become bigger and more and more interested in the CLARION project over the 4 years of implementation, in which they will be periodically invited to interact with the CLARION project and team.
