As we learned from the study carried out by #ANAIS among victims of domestic violence in the Bucharest-Ilfov region, 60% of women who are victims of domestic violence reported being prevented by their partner or another family member from accessing their own money or bank accounts. ➡️ In 6 out of 10 cases, economic violence involves restricting access to financial resources and essential goods, while family funds are often diverted to non-essential expenses, according to respondents. ➡️ Nearly 70% of participants faced challenges in leaving abusive situations due to financial constraints, a lack of control over finances, and the absence of a financial safety net—many have no savings or means to support themselves. 🎉 We are happy to announce Stefan Turcu as the newest member of our team. 👉 Ștefan is highly knowledgeable in European affairs, having served as Head of the Media and Communication Department at the European Commission Representation in Romania from 2018 to 2023. In this role, he was part of the European Commission team that supported Romania during its first EU Council Presidency and the 2019 informal Sibiu Summit attended by European leaders. He possesses an in-depth understanding of key EU policies and current debates. Previously, Ștefan worked as editor-in-chief for over ten TV shows at DIGI24 TV and from 2008 to 2011 contributed to the online platform of PROTV News. He holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science and a master’s in Comparative Politics from the University of Bucharest.

Her academic background, focusing on sustainable development, international cooperation, and humanitarian aid, has shaped her dedication to driving positive social change. As an adviser in the Department of Relations with Public Authorities and Civil Society within the Romanian Presidential Administration, Alexandra has gained substantial expertise in fostering partnerships between government institutions and civil society, promoting collaboration to tackle urgent societal issues and strengthen civic engagement.
