Mirage PMF That's a great POV about PMF in the era of AI. And it must be a struggle for startups with little funding. ➡️ "PMF is a different beast in AI-enabled services. Strong revenue growth and NDR can mask a lack of true AI enablement. " ➡️ "Real PMF in AI-enabled services requires proving you can scale non-linearly relative to your costs. To get there, your AI must drive measurable improvements in cost, quality, or speed—or ideally, all 3." #productcommunity #productmanagement #productmarketfit #genAI
I was having dinner recently with the CEO of a super fast-growing AI-enabled service. He has tremendous demand for his product from trendsetter customers. But he's worried serving this demand could in fact kill his company. Here's why: While his company has the capacity to deliver great results for these customers, doing so will distract them from the necessary learning/product work to develop AI to improve the efficiency of service delivery. Getting hooked on the revenue growth drug can mean the "AI" part of the AI-enabled service gets neglected. PMF is a different beast in AI-enabled services. Strong revenue growth and NDR can mask a lack of true AI enablement. We call it "Mirage PMF". Real PMF in AI-enabled services requires proving you can scale non-linearly relative to your costs. To get there, your AI must drive measurable improvements in cost, quality, or speed—or ideally, all 3. I work with another AI-enabled services founder who lost one of their biggest customers after an unexpected merger. While initially quite disappointing, this loss was a blessing in disguise; it freed up capacity to accelerate AI productization efforts, and the company is now much further down the non-linear growth/cost curve. TL;DR- if you're building an AI-enabled service, don't let revenue growth alone fool you into thinking you've found PMF. In theory, AI should make things dramatically cheaper, faster, or higher quality. Otherwise, you're just scaling human effort, not tech. Without that, you might have a good business—just not a venture-scale business.

💯 How do you know a product manager is about to make a decision? They schedule one more user interview and wait one more week for data to come… just to be sure. Every time 😄 . #productmanagement #productcommunity #decisionmaking

🔥 Crisis Management Knowledge Nugget on Lenny Rachitsky's podcast! In his latest podcast, Lenny interviews Uri Levine, co-founder of Waze, founder of nine other companies, board member of 20+ startups, and advisor to 50+ more. The topic is a very hot one these days and present in many large, medium and small companies: crisis management. He identifies two types of crises: 1️⃣ Cash Crisis: Assess how much runway you have. If revenue dips, cut expenses right away—don’t wait. Act in the first month to retain options. 2️⃣ Product-Market Fit Crisis: Reevaluate what’s changed in the market. Adapt or pivot your product or business model to meet new customer needs. https://lnkd.in/dx8d5BdB #productmarketfit #productcommunity #founder #crisismode #productmakers
