Media Education Centre

The Media Education Centre (MEC) is a non-political, nonprofit, nonsectarian CSO in the Special Consultative Status with United Nations Economy and Social Council. People from different socio-cultural backgrounds work together to produce film, animation, television and other media to advance Communication, Social Change, Intercultural Dialogue, Social Inclusion and Voluntarism. Their work promotes the informal and non-formal education of children, young adults, disabled people, migrants, refugees and people from other vulnerable groups. Media, Information and Peace education and literacy support our effort to promote the Peace in the Region and to ensure human and children’s rights, especially to information, democracy, self-expression and preservation of cultural, national and religious diversity. The mission of the Media Education Centre is to promote role of the Media, Peace and Information Literacy in the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, new media pedagogy, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace. The Media Education Centre is the headquarters for the International Youth Media Summit, Media Laboratory and Balkan PLUS! International. MEC is also Champion Member and HQ of the “Unity in Diversity-Serbia”. MEC is a member of or partner with the United Nations Alliance for Civilization, United Nations PLURAL + Film Festival… MEC cooperate as a partner or a member with International Clearinghouse on Children, Youth and Media, EAVI-European Association for Viewers Interests, ECFA (European Children’s Film Association), PIO-Platform for Intercultural Europe, Fondazione Malagutti, Mantua, Italy, International Children’s Rights Network “Colorful Rights-Diritti a Colori”, Tolerance Bag with NOOSFERA, Moscow, Russia and other international organizations.
