Last week, we had the pleasure of partnering with the African Law & Tech Network in collaboration with Center for Law and Innovation at Certa Foundation, and Eight Geeks @ Law to host an engaging mixer in Accra, focused on the topic "The Future Lawyer: Adapting & Thriving in the Age of Technology.” Our Chief Fixer, Deji Sarumi during the panel discussion, emphasised the importance of resilience and curiosity for lawyers to excel in today’s fast-evolving technological landscape. We were also honored by the warm welcome from our Ridwan Oloyede while the event was hosted by our Oladotun Owoyemi, CIPP/E. A big thank you to our esteemed panelists, Emmanuel Saah, Catherine Kariuki Mulika, Desmond Israel ESQ for sharing such valuable insights, as well as Doreen Umulisa for co-moderating the discussion. And a special shout out to all the lawyers who joined us from across the continent for a memorable and enriching evening. Your presence truly made it a success. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to host a vibrant meet-up in Accra, Ghana, bringing together over 40 brilliant lawyers from across the continent. This event was a great platform for legal professionals to connect, share insights and discuss how the legal field should adapt to the fast-paced advancements in emerging technology. The discussions were spearheaded by distinguished legal experts including Catherine Kariuki Mulika ,Emmanuel Saah, Desmond Israel ESQ, and Deji Sarumi, who highlighted the urgent need for lawyers to embrace new tools that drive efficiency in their work. As Deji Sarumi, co-founder of Tech Hive Advisory, succinctly put it: "To thrive in this evolving landscape, lawyers must continuously push themselves to be curious and adaptable." We were also honored to have Nankunda Katangaza, founder of the African Law & Tech Network, who shared the inspiring backstory of the network’s inception and the incredible milestones we have achieved so far. Calling all African legal professionals! The Future of Legal Services Commission of the International Bar Association has launched the second edition of its annual global survey, the ‘Heatmap of Legal Services’. A report will be produced based on the responses to the survey, which asks for participants' views on the principal developments in the legal sector where you are and the impact of various global issues affecting your legal market. The IBA will use the data collected (on a strictly anonymous basis) to produce a report on the impact of key global issues & developments affecting the legal market.
