About us
We empower entrepreneurs in Rwanda and across borders. Westerwelle Startup Haus Kigali is part of the global Westerwelle Foundation, which was founded in 2013 by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Guido Westerwelle and entrepreneur Ralph Dommermuth. At its core the Westerwelle Foundation aims at creating opportunities for young people in emerging countries and strengthening local entrepreneurship ecosystems. How do we do this? Through our startup hubs and support programmes. We currently have four startup hubs in Africa: Tunisia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Kenya. Each Westerwelle Startup Haus offers co-working, capacity building and access to the local startup community. Our programs support startups throughout their journey, from ideation to international acceleration. At Westerwelle Startup Haus Kigali, we’ve focused on driving innovation in key sectors such as insurtech, fostering entrepreneurship, advancing smart city solutions, and accelerating space tech innovation in Rwanda, among others. The WSHK makerspace equipped with 3D printers, lasercutters and other machines focuses on product design and prototyping to encourage experimentation and innovation and to facilitate collaborations between makers and entrepreneurs to create new exciting products and businesses.
