Ever gone on an empty stomach? Now picture a child going to school on an empty stomach! It's tough to imagine, isn't it? Going to school on an empty stomach can be incredibly challenging for a child. Hunger can make it difficult to concentrate, learn, and participate in school activities. This is why school feeding programmes are so important—they ensure that children have the nourishment they need to focus, learn, and thrive. Did you know school meal programmes do more than provide food? They play a crucial role in supporting children's well-being and academic success—setting them up for a brighter future. Today, we mark the 10th Africa Day of School Feeding, celebrating the impact of school meal programmes in improving children's nutrition, #Education, and future opportunities. Watch this video as Mary Njeri, World Vision’s Global Director for School Meals, explains the significance of #SchoolMeals in transforming lives. Do you have any personal experiences or stories related to school feeding programme that you'd like to share? #ADSF2025 #AfricaDayofSchoolFeeding #ENOUGH #ZeroHunger #SDG2

Imagine a young girl named Amina, living in a small village. Every morning, she wakes up early to help her mother with chores before heading to school. But today, like many other days, there's no breakfast waiting for her. Her stomach growls as she walks the dusty path to her classroom. As the teacher begins the lesson, Amina struggles to focus. The hunger pangs make it hard to concentrate, and her mind drifts away from the blackboard. She dreams of a warm meal, something to fill her empty stomach and give her the energy to learn and play. Then, one day, everything changes. A new school feeding programme is introduced in her village. Now, every morning, Amina and her classmates receive a nutritious meal at school. The difference is immediate. With a full stomach, Amina can finally concentrate on her studies. Her grades improve, and she starts to enjoy learning again. The benefits extend beyond the classroom. Amina's health improves, and she has more energy to help her family at home. The local farmers who supply the food for the programme see their businesses grow, boosting the village's economy. School meals have transformed Amina's life, giving her the nourishment she needs to succeed. They are more than just food—they are a lifeline, providing hope and opportunity for a brighter future. School feeding programmes are essential, ensuring that children like Amina can focus on their #Education and build a better life for themselves and their communities. Let’s break the cycle of #hunger and fuel the dreams of the next generation. Every child deserves a nutritious meal, every day! Join us in advocating for #SchoolMeals for all! 🍽️ #ADSF2025 #AfricaDayofSchoolFeeding #ENOUGH #ZeroHunger #SDG2

"Sponsorship transforms lives. Sponsorship changes lives." Today, Peter Hart is responsible for more than 700,000 sponsored children as World Vision’s Regional Sponsorship Coordinator for East Africa. But once, he was a sponsored child too. His journey from a boy growing up in deep poverty to becoming a champion for East Africa's children was made possible by the love of his mother and the support of his sponsor, Mr. Alfred Hart. 📽️ This is Peter's story. #WeAreWorldVision

Karongi District, February 26, 2025– The Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union (REWU) with the support of the World Vision Rwanda conducted an orientation Training of the new volunteers involved in child protection. Beneficiaries of the training are members of the Rwandan Association for Endogenous Development (ARDE/KUBAHO). The session aimed to educate the volunteers on children’s rights and equip them with essential strategies to prevent child abuse. During the meeting, REWU and World Vision emphasized the severe consequences of child abuse, including its potential to result in fatalities. Volunteers were also trained in key intervention strategies, such as promptly reporting cases to relevant authorities to ensure swift action in rescuing affected children. A World Vision Sponsorship Coordinator in the Kivu cluster highlighted the volunteers’ vital role in community child protection and stressed the importance of collaborating with partners to prevent cases of abuse. Participants welcomed the training, expressing appreciation for the valuable knowledge and skills gained in safeguarding children’s well-being. This initiative reinforces the commitment of REWU, World Vision, and ARDE/KUBAHO to strengthening child protection systems and fostering safer communities for children in Rwanda.

It was an honor for World Vision Rwanda National Director,Pauline Okumu to participate as a panelist at the Inclusive FinTech Forum #IFF2025. 🔸️During the discussion, she emphasized the critical role financial inclusion plays in fostering self-reliance and economic inclusion for vulnerable populations. 🔸️She also shared insights on the Ultra Poor Graduation and Building Secure Livelihoods models-proven approaches that help break barriers to financial services for refugees. 🔸️Through these models, refugees gain access to financial services, guidance on navigating local financial landscapes, and economic opportunities via skills training, credit access, and SME support. 🔸️These initiatives are paving the way for long-term economic empowerment and resilience for vulnerable populations. #FinancialInclusion #EconomicEmpowerment Inclusive FinTech Forum

How can we work smarter to tackle rising malnutrition? Last year, World Vision, 4SD Foundation and various partners facilitated the largest-ever investigations into malnutrition through the Nutrition Dialogues initiative. Engaging over 10,000 people across 54 countries, including 47% children & youth, and almost 60% women & girls, we gathered first-hand experiences through 346 local dialogues. What we found: 🔸 Communities can identify those most at risk and when malnutrition is likely to occur. 🔸 Coordinated and accountable responses are crucial. 🔸 Adapting services to local needs is essential. We'll be sharing the findings at the Nutrition 4 Growth Summit in March so that, together, we can listen to those most affected by malnutrition and create solutions that truly work. 🗨️ Learn more: https://bit.ly/4bjmLZ2 #NutritionDialogues #N4G
