Three years ago, I was struggling to find creatives for roles I needed filled—honestly, we all were. I ended up creating a community, thinking it would just be a handful of us. My first introduction said the following: “I have been wanting to create a little space for the creative sector in KSA. So we have a place to connect, share, and support. We are a small knit community, and I want us all to support one another as much as possible.” I never imagined that we would grow into a community of 792 people. We are no longer small knit, but I could not have asked for anything better. The people in this group continue to show up, lend support, and amaze me. It is a group of incredible individuals who are doing remarkable things in their field. We thank Maestro Pizza for sponsoring the food and AlMashtal for providing space, both of whom are fellow community members. We have planned a fun night with great food, live music, board games, and plenty of opportunities for photos—yes and wear black. This event is reserved for community members only. Saturday I had the honor of being a speaker at Knowledge of Design: Evolving Thoughts, Shaping Life. As an event designers, we face a unique challenge: crafting stunning, unforgettable experiences for events that often last just a few hours—all while prioritizing sustainability and minimizing waste.. This topic was at the heart of our discussion during the panel “Material Ecology in Design: Bridging Science, Nature, Architecture, and Interiors.” Exploring how design can merge innovation with responsibility was truly inspiring. Thank you Princess Noura Saud, Brandie Janow, and everyone who contributed to this meaningful sessions. Let’s continue pushing boundaries, embracing sustainable practices, and designing with purpose!

How do you define Design? Design is not just a word—it's a verb, a noun, a philosophy, a process, and a methodology. At its core, design is the art of problem-solving. I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of design in shaping cultures and behaviors. In Saudi Arabia, where change is happening at breakneck speed, good design is the key to balancing and adjusting the downfalls of this fast pace. We need human-centric design now more than ever. We need problem-solving at its finest, bringing together diverse perspectives to craft innovative solutions. Design knowledge serves as the crucial bridge between creativity and practical application. As we navigate this rapidly evolving landscape, cross-disciplinary communication becomes paramount. By fostering dialogue between different fields, we can unlock the full potential of design to address complex challenges. I'm grateful to Brandie Janow for initiating this important conversation.
