Ben is currently a General Partner at Cartography Capital, with over 15 years of experience in startups, business development, and venture investing. Ben has led marketing at ionGrid (acquired by NetApp, Fortune 500), driving business development at Square during its rapid growth contributing to its exponential growth of 1,900+ employees and eventual IPO., expanded Opendoor’s operations from 3 to 20+ markets and drove $100M annual pipelines before its public listing via SPAC. He was also one of the first angel checks into Teamshares, which recently crossed over 800M valuation. Ben’s addition to the Palm Ventures IC reinforces our commitment to leveraging global expertise to build the MENA region’s next wave of innovative startups.

Both bring extraordinary wealth of entrepreneurial and investment experience that will significantly bolster our mission of supporting the next generation of startups in the MENA region. - Dr. Omar Bakr has over two decades of Silicon Valley experience, pioneering groundbreaking technologies as both a founder and investor. Co-founded Tarana Wireless, Inc. ($1B+ valuation). PhD Computer Science University of California, Berkeley, BS and Masters Engineering Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also the co-founder of Cartography Cap, an early-stage venture fund and accelerator. - Salman Butt has over 23 years of expertise in information technology. Cofounder of several successful ventures, including Salla E-Commerce Platform and was honored with the Saudi Entrepreneurial Self-Made Award in 2021. He is also a seasoned angel investor, dedicated to mentoring and investing in emerging startups across the MENA region. Together, they will strengthen Palm Ventures' capabilities in deal sourcing and assessments, along with portfolio companies' support.

من منن الله وفضله، أن يجعلنا نتعلم بالتجارب والدروس. ومن هذه التجارب والدروس ما يأتي بالممارسة، وهذه تعليمها مقنع، وأثرها "لمن يعقل" ثابت ودائم، ومعناها دائما أعمق..ولكننا نمر بها في عجلة، وتحت الضوضاء، لذا يندر أن نتوقف ونفهم ونستفيد. وبعضها يأتي بالدراسة والملاحظة، وهي شاملة وغنية، تحمل في طياتها ما يُعجز، فهي قصص الآخرين، مآسيهم ونجاحاتهم، هي كبسولات الظروف مجمعة، وسير الأحداث مؤطرة. هي أثمن بكثير في شمولها، وأجمل في هدوئها. أكثر رتابة من التجربة، وأكثر حماية لمشاهدها. هنا تتسع فرص التأمل، ويسهل التجرد من أي انحياز. والسعيد من يتعظ بغيره، ويتعلم بسرعة، ليمنح ويعطي أكثر، حين يوازن بين الممارسة والدراسة. في الأمس القريب، أنهينا متطلبنا الأخير، واحتفلنا بتخرجنا كـ "قادة مسك ٢٠٣٠"… أي شرف هذا، حيث التقت الممارسة مع الدراسة والتدريب، لخدمة الوطن ورؤيته. شكراً لزملائي الذين رفعوا سقف طموحي بمشاهدتي للمزيد من نماذج الوطن الملهمة، وشكرا Misk Foundation و Esade على الجهود و تحملكم القيام بذلك، وشكرا THIQAH على الوقت الذي منحتني إياه. وبإذن الله سأشارك في القريب خلاصات جديدة في الإدارة والقيادة. By the grace of God, we learn through experiences and lessons. Some of these come from practice, which teaches us convincingly, leaving a lasting impact on those who understand. Its meaning often runs deeper, but we often rush through it, surrounded by noise, making it rare for us to pause, reflect, and truly benefit. Others come from study and observation; these are broad and rich, filled with stories of others—both their struggles and successes. They distill life’s circumstances and frame the events that shape us. They are far more valuable in their inclusiveness and more beautiful in their calmness. Here, opportunities for contemplation expand, making it easier to set aside biases. Fortunate is the one who learns from others "السعيد من اتعظ بغيره",adapting quickly to give and contribute more when balancing practice and study. Recently, we completed our final requirement and celebrated our graduation as "Misk Leaders 2030." What an honor it is to see practice, study, and training come together to serve our nation and its vision.
