Welcoming Our New Director: Helen Olds We are thrilled to announce that Helen Olds will join the British International School of Jeddah as our new Director in August 2025. With over 21 years of leadership experience in some of the most respected international schools across Asia and the Middle East, Helen brings a wealth of expertise, a passion for education, and a commitment to fostering a dynamic and supportive environment for both students and staff. Helen’s leadership journey includes roles at:  - Jerudong International School, Brunei  - The British School Jakarta  - The International School @ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur  - The British School Manila  - Most recently, as Director of Schools for the British International School Riyadh group Throughout her career, Helen has worked with diverse teams, supporting schools through significant growth and transformation. Her experience spans the 3-18 age range, and she has guided schools through start-ups, new campus builds, and the development of established institutions. With a deep understanding of both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, Helen has worked with single and multi-campus models to ensure high standards of education and continuous improvement. Helen’s expertise extends to a variety of curricula, including the English National Curriculum, International Primary and Middle Years Curricula, (I)GCSEs, vocational pathways, AS/A Levels, and the IB Diploma Programme. She is passionate about delivering high-quality learning opportunities and fostering a rich co-curricular environment that nurtures student well-being. As a leader, Helen believes in the power of collaboration and continuous professional growth. She actively engages with educational organisations, including AoBSO, BSME, COBIS, CIS, and HMC to improve outcomes for students and create opportunities for staff development. She is committed to providing an environment where teachers can thrive, and where the school’s commitment to excellence is shared by the entire team. Helen holds a Master’s in Education, the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), and is in the final stages of completing the National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL). Outside of work, Helen embraces the motto “work hard, play hard,” with interests in scuba diving, skiing, fitness, reading, and theatre. She also enjoys spending quality time with her family and cherishes the opportunity to work in diverse cultural settings. Helen shares: "I am honored to join BISJ and its vibrant, forward-thinking community. Together, I look forward to building on the school’s strong foundations and shaping an exciting future for our students, staff, and school community.” We are excited to welcome Helen to the BISJ family and look forward to her inspiring leadership starting in August 2025.  Please join us in celebrating this exciting new chapter for BISJ.

While our dedicated staff at The British International School of Jeddah enjoyed a well-deserved break this summer, our hardworking operations team was very busy behind the scenes. One of the many projects was revamping our Early Years Playground. We're thrilled to share that a brand-new Early Years Playground has been successfully completed, thanks to the expertise and dedication of our partner, Kidzink. This new space is designed to inspire our youngest learners, offering a safe and engaging environment where imagination and play come to life. We can't wait to see the joy and creativity it will bring to our Early Years community! Thank you to everyone involved in making this project a reality.
