Delivering Innovative solutions with NORYL™ Products
نبذة عنا
SABIC invented NORYL™ resin, a modified polyphenylene ether (PPE) material, in 1956. Since then, we have continued to innovate, developing several distinct, high-performance portfolios for market segments including mobility, water management, solar and photovoltaic, and building and construction. NORYL resin product families offer low specific gravity, excellent hydrolytic and dimensional stability, non-brominated / non-chlorinated flame retardancy, and good chemical resistance. We’re impacting vehicle safety with thermoplastics. 🚗 One major aspect of automotive safety is crash protection – whether the target is an EV battery or a B pillar. But traditional solutions have relied on metal, which adds weight and manufacturing complexity. SABIC’s NORYL GTX™ 9600 resin can replace metal in components including pillar reinforcements, battery rocker panels and front rail extensions. With high energy absorption and ductility and low-temperature impact performance, this resin can enhance safety while reducing weight and cost. ℹ For more information on NORYL GTX resin in these applications, access our technical video via the link in the comments. #plastics #SABIC #ChemistryThatMatters #SABICSpecialties #passengersafety #pedestriansafety

🌡️ Thermal management systems (TMS) are critical to EV range and reliability. Since there’s currently no industry standard, impending PFAS restrictions could prompt a switch from traditional refrigerants, such as R1234a / R1234YF to CO2- or propane-based systems or to oil. #SABIC is actively researching solutions such as high-heat and chemical-resistant ULTEM™ and NORYL™ resins for use in TMS components like hoses, heat pumps, valves, e-motors and converters/inverters. SABIC’s John E. Pedrotti, MBA and Jignesh Amin Amin recently attended Thermal Management for EV/HEV/PHEV USA 2024 to discuss with customers their EV efficiency challenges and gain additional insight into how our materials can be used to help address their pain points. 📞 Reach out to John and Jignesh today to collaborate on your next project and download 👇🏼 our flyer via the link in the comments for more information. #plastics #ChemistryThatMatters #mobility #electricvehicles #SABICSpecialties #thermalusa

EV batteries need a thermoplastic “diet.” An #electricvehicle can weigh up to 30% more than a gas vehicle – and the main culprit is the battery. Extra weight can affect a battery’s day-to-day performance and useful life. One solution? Replace metal components like battery pack housings and rocker panels with specialty thermoplastics. Make plans to join SABIC’s Somasekhar Bobba for a presentation on battery lightweighting at the SAE Battery & Electrification Summit, a virtual event. ◼️ Date: Tuesday, Oct. 22 ◼️ Time: 11:00 a.m. EDT Register today for the SAE summit via the link in the comments. #plastics #ChemistryThatMatters #mobility #SABICSpecialties #EVs #batteries

Contributing to clean energy. 🔋 Specialty thermoplastics can enhance light weighting, safety and design flexibility in solar generation, energy storage and energy control systems. SABIC discussed this topic with attendees at RE+24. ☑ Some customers expressed interest in replacing metal in components like housings and junction boxes with all plastic or plastic/metal to cut weight. ☑ Others looked to thermoplastics for design freedom or high heat performance. #SABIC reassured companies that are looking to manufacture clean energy equipment domestically vs. internationally: ✅ SABIC materials that companies source globally can be available in the U.S. ✅ SABIC has a large network of customers that manufacture these components. ✅ SABIC provides world-class technical services. Contact us at Specialties.Americas@sabic-hpp.com to discuss your next project. #SABIC #plastics #ChemistryThatMatters #SABICSpecialties #electrical #electronics #cleanenergy #solarenergy #windenergy
