The opportunity to try the Rixon Denny Bluetooth speaker was my first introduction to this brand. So I had no preconceived expectations. The first thing that won me over was his proportions. This is not a monster, but a product that can easily fit almost anywhere, i.e. on a shelf, under a computer monitor or TV, in a bag, and thanks to the loop and attached carabiner, you can easily attach it to a backpack strap, for example.
Although it's tempting to assume that small dimensions will also mean "small sound", this is definitely not the case, which was the second and most important factor after pairing that I was pleasantly surprised by. This is due to the capabilities of the DSP chip, which ensures a clean and high-quality presentation even under heavy loads.
Even if you want to enjoy your free time on the beach, by the pool or somewhere in nature, it will not be a problem with this speaker. It weighs less than 1 kg and is both dustproof and waterproof. The design was successful. The product looks modern without bringing any extravagance into the game. You can also count on an above-average battery life, while the power bank function supplies energy to your smartphone, tablet or other device. The availability of playback from a Micro SD card or through the 3,5mm stereo input is also useful. If you would like to multiply the performance and provide more space, there is the possibility of connecting two pieces using Rixon Twinstream technology. That looks pretty promising. What comes to you with Rixon Denny
In the package, which you open by removing the stickers from the bottom and lifting the lid, you will see, in addition to two edges providing protection during transport, the speaker itself wrapped in a white bag and a small box with accessories. Inside, you will find multilingual documentation, including its Czech version, a black metal carabiner, a meter-long USB-C to USB-A and an audio cable with two 3,5mm stereo jacks, 60 cm long. So just place the Rixon Denny somewhere, or give it access to recharge, and after pairing you're ready to start enjoying its sound capabilities.

Physical properties
The black Rixon Denny, which tapers slightly towards the rear, has nice beveled lines and rounded edges. While the mid and high frequencies flow to you from the front, where the logo draws attention, the lower mids and bass radiate from the sides. The manufacturer has located all the controls at the top, where they are easy to reach. The modern look is underlined by the discreet backlighting around the perimeter of the speaker at the transition to the edges, where, together with the central part at the back, a durable plastic emerges from the fabric that protects most of the surface. All connector equipment is located under a rubber cover also on the back. Specifically, they are USB-C for recharging the device itself, USB-A for charging the phone, a 3,5mm jack for connecting any external audio source and a Micro SD card slot. The stability of the Rixon Denny is provided by a pair of anti-slip and anti-vibration surfaces underneath.

You have a set of 5 buttons located on the top to perform all operations. The first of them (from the left) is intended for a short hold to turn on or off, while a longer one will enter the pairing mode, which is also indicated by the backlight, with a quick blue flash. By clicking on the next-to-side element with the "-" symbol, you will gradually mute the speaker, and if your finger remains in this place for a longer time, you will go to the previous track in the sequence.
In addition to starting or pausing playback, tapping the Play button is also assigned to accept and end a call on speakerphone, while if you press it for a long time during a call, the call will be rejected or the last number called will be redialled, depending on the current situation.
The following "+" works similarly to "-", only in the opposite direction. You can use it to increase the volume or skip to the next track. If for some reason you want to break the connection with the currently paired Bluetooth device, just press "+" and "-" at the same time.
Last in line is the equalizer button, represented by two connected circles – one with a dash inside and the other pointing outwards. This indicates the purpose for which the pair of presets hidden under it can be used, marked INDOOR (for indoor listening) and OUTDOOR (for consuming content outside it - outdoors). By default, the first one is characterized by full bass, while the second one in the lower spectrum is not so rich, but maintains the purity of the expression and at the same time favors a longer operating time per charge.
Some other functions are also handy. For example, switching to playback from a memory card after inserting it without the need for any settings, which happens even if you put an audio cable in the input. The re-establishment of the Bluetooth connection takes place smoothly and practically immediately after you remove the medium or the 3,5 mm jack. When switched on, the Rixon Denny will quickly and automatically connect to the last used device. It can remember up to 8 of them.

Rixon Denny boasts a power of 40 W. The frequency response of the manufacturer is in the range of 110 Hz to 20 kHz. The sound experience is provided by 44 x 80 mm drivers with 4 Ω impedance. Wireless communication is provided by Bluetooth in version 5.3 with support for A2DPV1.2, AVRCPV1.4, HPV1.6 and HSPV1.2, while the working distance is 10 m. The speaker is powered by a 7.2V Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 3450 mAh, which after discharge it reaches its maximum in 4 hours providing up to 20 hours of playback depending on the volume and type of content. As already stated in the introduction, with the proportions of 88,5 mm in height, 29,9 in depth and 241,5 mm in width with a weight of 930 g, the product will not take up much space or be carried around. The degree of protection IP67 means dustproof and protects against bad weather, spilling accidents and against submersion in water to a depth of 1 m for 30 minutes. So you can take it with you almost anywhere you want without any worries.

Personal impressions and evaluations
What makes Rixon Denny score? From my point of view, clearly clean sound with relatively dense bass, which seems unusually rich for a device of its price category and taking into account the dimensions. The DSP chip is really unexpectedly magical here. The performance seemed to me to be absolutely sufficient in the interior and was not significantly lost in the outdoor environment, so if you are not organizing a giant party, it will make a good companion for you on a trip, at a barbecue or while working in the garden. I believe that some users would welcome the availability of a mobile application with which they could access more detailed settings. I personally didn't miss her that much in the end. Equalizer, which is part of Spotify along with presets for Music v iOS, they were quite enough for me. I was satisfied with the sound so much that I almost only made adjustments when switching from favorite artists to podcasts.
When using the tone generator, the speaker began to assert itself more significantly already at 44 Hz, which of course I perceived positively. A couple of times I encountered an unnecessarily loud sound notification when changing the listening source and lacked some way to turn off the LED backlight. As the following images demonstrate, the colors sound nice during the day and in the dark, and the intensity of their radiation is not disproportionately high, however, at least at night, the possibility of deactivation would be quite useful.

On the contrary, I consider it a pleasant aspect that the surface is not too prone to sticking prints. Charging with 10W adapter Apple it only took a little longer than the promised 4 hours. In addition to testing the limits and listening to a variety of tracks across genres, including spoken word while falling asleep, I used the speaker to diversify my mood at work when the wake-up rate did not exceed 40%, and even that seemed adequate under these conditions. In smaller rooms, there is probably no risk of having to push the amplifier to the maximum, but even then it does not draw any noticeable noise and the speech does not become less readable. With such use, it is possible to get beyond the limit of 20 hours of endurance.

As for the real range, there was no problem when verifying inside, except for the farthest corner of the bathroom, even over a floor and several doors. In an open space, I moved about 50m without a dropout, so you don't have to worry about interruptions in common situations where you want to pop out for a drink or open the door for incoming guests. If you're looking for a modestly sized Bluetooth speaker at an affordable price that will sound like it belongs in a much larger device, then this is definitely worth considering.

It will provide you with a rich sound and a nice appearance, which will easily fit into the interior, but at the same time, thanks to its easy portability, it will delight you wherever you go - on trips, during trips and moments of relaxation in the garden.
