A fast new methodology for solving the matrix equation that arises from an integral equation
description of UHF propagation over terrain is presented. The method combines the fast far
field approximation with the Green's function perturbation method to produce a fast solution
technique with a strong physical basis. Results of numerical experiments are presented and
compare favourably with both published measured data and slower more exact reference
solutions. The effect of small scale surface roughness is also discussed.
