Advent season - Time for happy hours in Ödevata. Last Sunday we invited all our neighbors to a get together and had an Advent café. Here in the wilderness of Småland we are neighbors even if we live about 4 kilometers apart... It was super cool so many came. A really nice mingle and thanks to homemade Christmas cookies extremely delicious. It is so important that people in the neighborhood get to know each other better. We decided without further ado that we should meet once a month in the future. It will be exciting to see how that develops. We wondered a lot what we could do this year for our team's Christmas party. A shared activity and a good dinner together was important to us. Christmas market, classic Julbord (we don't know that many, but we can highly recommend the vegetarian Julbord in Mundekulla), off to Kalmar and experience something there? We simply got a feel for the mood in the team. And in the end we decided to stay in Ödevata. We baked Christmas cookies together and played games. In the evening, Doro and Patrick served a Julbord a la Ödevata style. It was a good time together, we laughed a lot and talked about things outside of our daily business. And we were able to say thank you to our team. For a special and colorful year 2024.

Many years ago, these gentlemen studied together. And they have cultivated the wonderful tradition of meeting once a year for a weekend together. This has been the case for 19 years now, without interruption. This year, the fellow students have chosen Ödevata for their meeting. And they enjoyed their time in the wilderness of #Småland: 🌳 Refreshing forest walk through nature 🧖♂️ Rauna floats with cooling off in the lake 👨🍳 Cooking together in our self-catering kitchen in the hotel (with tilapia from our fish farm) Being able to book the Ödevata Gårdshotel exclusively was an important argument for the group to spend the time together completely undisturbed and alone - another argument: paying tribute to the sustainable efforts in Ödevata with a tour of Framtidens Orangeri. Our partners in the region also benefited from the presence of the study friends. The group reserved a table in Emmaboda for their traditional Kroppkakor meal. At a tasting in the Emmaboda Bryggeri, the gentlemen were convinced of the good taste of the local beers. And with Ben's taxi, the trips from Kroppkakor, to Bryggeri and back to Ödevata were comfortable and safe. We celebrate when several partners have a piece of the cake. That corresponds to our idea of creating value together. And it is always nice when we can contribute a part to that. Sports event in Ödevata! Save the date: May 24 and 25, 2025. We are super proud to announce that Ödevata will be the official Competition Center and Race Accommodation for the Småland Adventure Race 2025! WhoopWhopp! 🚀 The Småland Adventure Race (SAR) is a multi-sport competition where teams of 2-4 people must take all the checkpoints marked on the maps as quickly as possible. SAR offers two classes to participate: a short class about 9-12 hours and a long one about 22-26 fantastic hours, including mountain biking, running, and kayaking. Always navigation with map! What do you do when you have an abundance of white cabbage and can't keep up with eating it? #Sauerkraut! Yesterday we invited people to a #DIY sauerkraut course in Ödevata. The fantastic Dzintra Baumane shared her knowledge of history and preparation and together we got to work. ✅ Preserving white cabbage ✅ Sharing knowledge and learning from each other ✅ Implementing a fun project together ✅ Stocking up on healthy food for the whole winter Many thanks to everyone who took part. What we really like in and about Ödevata? Study visits! Interested people come to us to find out about our sustainable projects: Framtidens Orangeri, #biochar, our permaculture garden and buildings with recycled materials.   As exciting as it is to organize study visits in Ödevata, we also enjoy going on study visits ourselves. Now is a good time for that and we recently explored three projects.   🌷 We were able to take a look behind the scenes at AB LAGERGRENS HANDELSTRÄDGÅRD, which produces tulips in particular on a large scale. The company has been family-owned since 1963, when it was bought by Evert Lagergren. Björn and Kent Lagergren run the company and Kent took a lot of time to show us around the huge facility and explain the production process. Very impressive! We felt like watching a video in “Sendung mit der Maus”. 😉   ☕ Our next detour to TADAH kafferosteri AB was awakening and extremely delicious. Julia and Michael Skentelbery run the fine coffee roastery in Lenhovda. In the cozy café, the two shared their extensive knowledge of the black gold with us. Tasting included. Thank you so much!   🍓 We finally found the time to stop by Spetsamåla Gård (again). We work together in various parts, including having their honey for our breakfast buffet. But there is so much going on at Carina and Leif's farm that there is always something new to discover. The two are currently increasing the pace of their #engagement for #climate and work intensively on producing biochar. What a great pleasure to meet open-minded (young) people who are genuinely interested in #sustainability. Last week we had Léna Turner and Charlotta Schneider as guests in Ödevata, who are studying MSc in Tourism & Sustainability at Linnaeus University in Kalmar. For their group-project, we talked about how to design sustainable #tourism and about the influence of people's relationships with nature, society and themselves. When we founded our company and took over Ödevata, we knew that time off would be rare.   In August and October we spent two nights each with our van on the #coast, a family weekend in September in #Hamburg and, until yesterday, three wonderful autumn days in the nature of Region Kronoberg and Region Kalmar län. We are extremely grateful for these little #microadventures to get some air, breathe deeply, clear our heads, recharge batteries, come up with fresh ideas,... And we would like to say thank you: 💙 Our great team who supports us wonderfully and backs us up ❤️ The amazing Malin & Magnus Axelsson, who take over for us on site so that we can immerse ourselves for a while 💚 Our cooperation partners such as the reliable Chatrine & Johan with their great projects like #undereken and #exploremsmåland Ödevata is open all year round. Thank you to everyone who is involved in this #teamwork and makes it possible. ❗ Enjoying autumn in southern Sweden is a real recommendation.
