Dutch Ministry Delegation visits AAK to discuss European Legislations 📑 On the 27th of January 2025, a delegation of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture visited AAK’s plant-based innovation center in Zaandijk to learn more about the industry, and better understand how companies work with the European Corporate Social Responsibility legislations. The visit was arranged by AAK Zaandijk and MVO, The Netherlands Oils and Fats Industry. 🌿 One of the main topics of discussion was how companies work with the legislation in practice, with a special focus on strategies relating to the palm oil supply chain. 📢 “Open dialogue between public and private sectors supports our transparency and co-development ambitions. AAK is committed to sustainable food production, and that includes addressing the sustainability challenges of today, and tomorrow. Love to Dunk? ☕🍪 AAK’s recent study reveals that 64% of adults globally enjoy dunking biscuits or cookies in their drinks. Key Findings: 🌍 Top Dunking Nations: India, Turkey, and Mexico lead the way. 🥛 Dunking Preferences: In the US, cookies and milk or coffee are favorites, while in the UK and India, biscuits and tea or chocolate are preferred. 🍪 Ideal Dunking Experience: Consumers value taste, meltiness, and texture. At AAK, we're exploring the future of fats and oils through innovative approaches, such as precision fermentation, which uses microorganisms to produce specific ingredients such as fats and oils, enzymes, natural pigments, and vitamins. By harnessing these novel techniques, we're seeking to transform industrial or agriculture leftovers into sustainable, high-quality fats and oils. While this approach is still under development, we see potential and hope to scale up the process in the future.
