👋 Women outdoors - how can we make a difference for YOU? Five years ago, we founded Astrid Wild after recognizing that most outdoor wear was designed by men, for men. Like many everyday essentials—such as safety belts—outdoor wear has traditionally been created with the male body as the standard, often leaving women with "shrink pink" versions of men’s clothing. Since 2019, we’ve been working hard to change that by designing a complete outdoor wardrobe for women—from base layers to shell outerwear (with shell pants coming soon!). We challenged the traditional outdoor industry by creating fashionable AND functional clothing made to celebrate the unique beauty of the female form. This dedication has resulted in iconic fits and the largest size range in the Nordics, offering 42 pants sizes. Now, we’re taking a moment to pause, reflect, and consider our next steps. We want to dive deeper into ways to make a difference for as many women as possible, and we’re committed to staying true to our mission: to make outdoor life more inviting, inclusive, and comfortable for all women." Jämtland holds a special place in my heart, but I think it’s easy for someone returning home to say that. Returning has given me a sense of peace I hadn’t had in a long time." Last week our founders joined a delegation trip to Paris with the Prins Daniels Fellowship 🇫🇷
Paris, with HRH Prince Daniel. ✨ As mentees in Prins Daniels Fellowship, Jemina and I joined a delegation visit to Paris last week. The feeling now when the dust has settled: Very grateful for the opportunity to see France through a fresh lens, and to connect with, and get inspired by some of Sweden’s and France’s leading entrepreneurs. 🇸🇪🇫🇷 The trip instilled some new perspectives: Far gone is a France which relies on heritage, old cheese, and wine. The country has made huge investments in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation during the past decade, led by Macron. Impressed by the high ambition. Sweden is a small country, but together with our European neighbors, we can create an impact. Collaboration across borders is more important than ever, for example, co-founding green energy solutions. Developing and designing functional wear for women, might not be restricted to the outdoors on this planet, maybe it’s garments and gear for outer space in the future? Inspired by the space mobility company Exotrail, I started thinking about Astrid Wild designing astronaut wear for female shapes. Thank you Estelle Joubert Westling and Ida Akbar at Prins Daniels Fellowship for an incredibly well-organized trip, to Jessica Schultz, chair of Prins Daniels Fellowship, and to everyone joining for the warmth and the openness. A memory of a lifetime.
