This year’s Mandela Talks was really inspiring! We had the privilege to attend this incredible event hosted at Fotografiska in Stockholm, which explored groundbreaking engineering solutions for both space and wildlife conservation. From innovative designs for protecting endangered species to lessons we can bring back from space exploration, the event highlighted the role of engineering in tackling global challenges. Inspiring talk by space designer and entrepreneur Cecilia Hertz. Thank you to Peace Parks Foundation for a great event! A big thank you to everyone who participated in Tuesday’s Missing Maps Mapathon! 🎉 We were thrilled to see enthusiastic groups mapping from Luleå University, Chalmers, and Handelshögskolan in Gothenburg, along with a fantastic team from Sandvik, plus all other mappers from near and afar, like Finland. Some even mapping from Washington D.C. We worked together to map a flood-affected area in Assam, India—an important effort to improve crisis preparedness. While the task was challenging at times, the energy and positivity from participants were inspiring. 🌍🗺️ Your contributions are making a difference. Thank you for your commitment and curiosity! Thank you to Ray and Fazelat for guiding the mappers in a calm and professional way. We will get back with the results as soon as they have been checked. We plan to hold our next Missing Map Mapathon in May 2025! Stay tuned! #MissingMaps #Collaboration #Sustainability #engineerswithoutborders #ewbswe #ewbsweden #EngineeringForHumanity #HumanitarianEngineering

🌍💧 World Toilet Day: November 19 💧🌍 Did you know that over 3.6 billion people globally still lack access to safe sanitation? On World Toilet Day, we reflect on how innovative solutions can bridge this critical gap and ensure dignity, health, and sustainability for all. At Engineers Without Borders Sweden, we’re working to make a difference in communities like Karagwe in Tanzania, through EcoSan toilets – an ecological sanitation solution that turns waste into resources while conserving water. This approach not only improves hygiene and health but also supports local agriculture by providing nutrient-rich compost and fertiliser. It’s a step towards achieving sustainable development goals and creating long-term impact. 🌱 📖 Curious to learn more about EcoSan toilets and how they’re transforming lives? 🌍 Reflecting on the 2024 EWB Global Summit in Kuala Lumpur! 🌍 Although Engineers Without Borders Sweden was not able to attend, we're happy to receive the updates from the EWB Global Summit hosted by EWB Malaysia. This remarkable gathering brought together representatives from 21 nations, marking the largest assembly of EWB organisations in history. Over three impactful days, discussions revolved around unifying goals for a safe, just, and sustainable future. The summit laid a foundation for collective action, with key steps toward developing a global charter for the EWB movement. This charter will align and amplify our shared values, such as sustainability, inclusivity, and community empowerment, driving collaborative impact across borders. We look forward to the release of the event's summary materials next month and to contributing reflections and insights that support our movement’s ambitious objectives. Stay tuned for updates on this global journey toward engineering a more equitable future! 🔗 Read the summit agenda in the EWB Global Summit Booklet: https://lnkd.in/dQDreGvn #EWBGlobalSummit #EngineersWithoutBorders #SustainableEngineering #GlobalImpact #engineerswithoutborders #ewbswe #ewbsweden #EngineeringForHumanity #HumanitarianEngineering
