Live sports broadcasting is entering a bold new era, as proven by last year’s groundbreaking trial, staged by Ericsson, 3Danmark, TV 2 Danmarkand Sonyat a major stadium in the Nordics 🏟️ Using 3 Denmark’s 5G SA network (provided exclusively by Ericsson) and leveraging the latest in cutting-edge mmWave technology, the trial was a demonstration of how 5G advancements have made it possible to deliver flawless, uninterrupted broadcasts. mmWave's high frequency range of 30-300ghz enables the type of low latency, high bandwidth connections that an event of this size and spectacle demands. With it, CSPs can deliver an elevated experience to fans that expect (and demand more). Broadcasters can enjoy a less logistically demanding process, potentially lowering their production costs by 90%. It’s a clear example of the transformative power of 5G SA networks — but that power must be focused correctly, placing great importance on productive collaboration between companies like Ericsson, 3 TV 2 and Sony.
