These were some of the questions we explored recently during a panel discussion themed “Sharing is Caring.” Three of our If colleagues shared their perspectives on careers, innovation, personal development, and the unique If culture. The panel featured Anette Ivri Nordin, Ebba Barchaeus (fd Rundquist), and Sofia Magnusson — all nominees for the If Awards, our recognition for exceptional employees. The discussion was expertly moderated by Jessica Balksjö Nannini. Here are some of the key takeaways from the session: 🪂 Step out of your comfort zone! QUARTERLY RESULT 📈 Today, If P&C Insurance presented continued solid financial results for the third quarter and first nine months of 2024. If’s Nordic scale continues to deliver advantages in balancing risk and reducing costs, and will increase further with the upcoming integration of Topdanmark into If’s Nordic structure. “In a time of increased volatility, our scale and diversification are considerable benefits. Our customers can be assured that If remains solid and continues to help our customers effectively”, says Morten Thorsrud, CEO of If P&C Insurance. If reported a combined ratio of 83.6 percent (83.2) for the first nine months of 2024 reflecting strong underlying margins. Business areas Private reported continued strong growth, fuelled by solid increases in personal insurance and property. 🌱Insure your Growth at If – From Claims Advisor to Training Lead! 🌱 I’ll be honest—when I first joined If as a 23-year-old, I didn’t know much about the company or what I was getting into. Starting at Volvia’s Claims Services felt like a big challenge, especially considering I didn’t even have a driver’s license at the time and barely knew what a bumper was! 🚗 (Don’t worry, I’ve learned a lot since then!) Shortly after I began, my team leader asked me a question that shaped my career: “What are your long-term goals?” Back then, I had no clear idea. But I knew one thing: I enjoyed learning and helping others learn. That simple answer set me on a path that’s led me through numerous projects, collaborations, and opportunities to grow personally and professionally. In April 2021, I stepped into a role as Training Coordinator and Instructor, which ultimately led to where I am today: Training Lead for the Claims team in Sweden and part of the Nordic People Development team. 👥 My team and I now focus on creating and delivering training programs, developing new materials, and expanding our digital offerings. As my manager Susanna Kaila-Stenberg put it, “I’m excited to see our Trainer team take Claims training to the next level—giving new Claims handlers inspiring and engaging onboarding so they’re confident to support our customers, and adding flexibility to meet seasonal demand.” It’s been a journey full of challenges—especially balancing my time between advising clients and coordinating training sessions in the past. But today, being able to fully dedicate myself to training and development feels incredibly rewarding 🎉 💡 My advice for others looking to grow? Det avslører befolkningens svar på våre spørsmål i Kantar Klimabarometer 2024, der vi blant annet sjekker om: ☔️ Vi har tillit til at myndighetene ivaretar sikkerheten ved ekstremvær. ☔️ Vi er trygge på at kommunen sikrer innbyggere og bedrifter mot skader. ☔️ Vi er redde for at boligene våre kan få skader ved ekstremvær. ☔️ Vi har gjort tiltak på egen bolig for å begrense ekstremvær-skader. ☔️ Vi har tenkt gjennom hva vi kan gjøre av akutte tiltak når det varsles ekstremvær. Forsikring beregner risiko ut fra historiske modeller. Men ekstremvær skjer så fort, at fremtid må beregnes ut fra nåtid. Klarer politikerne å jobbe så raskt? Det var en av flere utfordringer til politikerne fra Line Gjengedal Ruud, vår nordiske leder for skadehåndtering, under lanseringen av Kantar Klimabarometer 2024 på Litteraturhuset i Oslo. Befolkningens svar på våre spørsmål i Klimabarometeret viser nemlig at: ☔️ 37 prosent har liten tillit til at myndighetene ivaretar sikkerhet for helse, privat eiendom og infrastruktur ved ekstremvær. ☔️ 28 prosent føler seg ikke trygge på at kommunen har tatt grep for å sikre innbyggere og bedrifter mot skader. ☔️ 14 prosent er redde for at boligene våre kan få skader fra styrtregn med oversvømmelse, flom, skred eller stormflo. ❌ 41 prosent av oss ikke gjort tiltak på egen bolig for å begrense ekstremvær-skader. ❌ 51 prosent av oss ikke tenkt gjennom hva vi kan gjøre av akutte tiltak når det varsles ekstremvær om kort tid. ⛈️ Ekstremvær vil ramme oss hardere og koste oss mer fremover. 🌱 Det koster mindre å forebygge enn å reparere. Derfor kjemper vi for å få flere til å forberede seg, før de selv må kjenne på vonde økonomiske, praktiske og følelsesmessige konsekvenser 💙 #skadeforebygging #ekstremvær #klimabarometer
