We believe that personal development is necessary for societal change.
This is why we are co-creating the Inner Development Goals - a blueprint of the capabilities, qualities and skills that are needed to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Our aim is to educate, inspire and empower people to be a positive force for change in society and find a more purposeful way to look at our lives and the lives of the people around us.
The Inner Development Goals (IDGs) will provide an essential framework and field-kit for inner growth. It is the greatest possible accelerator to reach the Sustainable Development Goals and create a prosperous future for all of humanity.

Many unfortunate thresholds were crossed this year (👋 1.5c), but let's celebrate the fact that 2024 was also a watershed moment for the inner dimension of sustainability and social change in mainstream policy thinking! 🏛️ 🤓 📃 🎉
From the wonderful Kristen Cordell taking it to her colleagues in the White House and Frank Niepold and Haley C. leading a game-changing coalition of US federal agency experts, to Massamba Thioye making it an official UNFCCC topic at COP29 for the first time and Club of Rome Co-President Sandrine Dixson-Declève commissioning a paper that highlights this vital missing piece of the puzzle in systems thinking. Collaborating with these visionaries has been a dream come true. I write about all these developments with links to some important resources in a digest of my work in 2024: https://lnkd.in/d7TQDFHz
To cap it off, the UN recently made December 21st - the solstice - 'World Meditation Day' and IPBES (the intergovernmental body on biodiversity) yesterday released it's assessment of 'transformative change' that fully integrates the need for both inner and outer shifts: https://lnkd.in/dczfPgZ7. (Hat tip to lead author and holistic thinking champion Karen O'Brien)
Without this inner lens complementing all the great work being done in the 'outer' domain of systems change, we've been addressing the situation with one eye closed and one hand tied behind our back. It's cause for hope that integrated approaches are now on the cards. Who knows what we can do with all the pieces in play!
Here's wishing those of you still at your desks a happy Christmas period and fruitful year ahead 🎅🌲

Facing the #Metacrisis: A Call for #Deeper#Leadership – Join our first #inperson 2025 Inner Development Goals#Switzerland Community Event at Impact Hub Basel. We’ll explore how spirituality can reshape leadership in a way that is grounded, professional, and highly relevant to today’s challenges.
We are facing a #metacrisis — a perfect storm of interrelated global challenges: the #mentalhealth pandemic, abusive and #addictive behaviors, ecological destruction, overconsumption, human exploitation, etc. The #extractionist#mindset that drives excessive #consumption and #exploitation of people and resources is not sustainable.
To create a #sustainable future, we need to go beyond the material and shift our #leadership approach. This is not about religion or belief in any god. It’s about cultivating a deeper spiritual connection to ourselves, to each other, and to the natural world. Spirituality, in this context, is about reconnecting with what truly matters and feeling at home in the world—beyond just material concerns.
Event Highlights:
🌟 Explore #research at the intersection of #spirituality and #leadership: Learn how a spiritual mindset—not tied to any religion—can help leaders make decisions that align with long-term sustainability and human well-being.
🌟 #Holistic leadership: Understand how spiritual awareness can enhance corporate culture, improve mental health, and foster a sense of belonging in organizations.
🌟 Engage in #conversation and activities: Join like-minded leaders to explore meaningful, non-religious approaches to leadership in response to global challenges.
This event is a space for open-minded leaders—whether seasoned or new—who are ready to embrace a deeper, non-religious form of leadership that addresses the complex crises we face. Spirituality in leadership can help us reconnect with purpose, clarity, and compassion.
Join us on this journey toward a new era of holistic, responsible leadership

What will it take to bridge the gap for the SDGs? 🌍✨
Our theme partner for 2025 Inner Development Goals Executive Director Jan Artem Henriksson shares how inner development can drive real progress—an inspiring read for the holiday season! 🎄
What will it take to bridge the gap between ambition and action for the SDGs? 🌍
We talked with Jan Artem Henriksson, Executive Director of the Inner Development Goals, about how developing inner skills and capacities can equip individuals and organisations to tackle complex challenges and accelerate progress toward the global goals.
Discover his insights in the full interview below. 💡

With climate anxiety on the rise and conflicts over resources looming, the question isn’t just how we’ll tackle climate change—but whether we’re equipped with the skills to navigate its challenges.
In my latest article, I explore:
🌱 What climate anxiety is and how it’s affecting us.
🌱 Why global action isn’t happening fast enough.
🌱 The critical skills we need—such as conflict resolution, critical thinking, and insights from the Inner Development Goals (IDGs)—to address the social and economic challenges of a warming world.

💡 When climate conversations feel stuck, sometimes we need a different approach.
Frederic Laloux author of 'Reinventing Organizations', who joined us for the IDG pre-Summit Special in October, has a powerful invitation for our community as we enter 2025.
Read his personal call to action below and discover how inner development can spark meaningful climate conversations in your network.
“As 2024 comes to close, the fact that the climate is changing rapidly might feel more obvious than ever. And yet – as I shared during the IDG pre-Summit Special last month – we all have people in our lives who feel stuck: they somehow know this but try to ignore it because they don’t know what to do about it.
What if there was an easy, powerful way to get them on board?
A way for them to stop avoiding the topic, and to feel proud and energised rather than overwhelmed?
That’s what we created The Week for.
The Week is this powerful group experience that anyone can use, for free, to spark real, emotional conversations about the climate crisis and what we can do about it. This happens by coming together with a group of people three times over the course of a week or two, each time to watch an hour-long documentary and have a powerful guided conversation.
More than 70,000 people have gone through The Week and taken their first climate action as a result!
So, try it! Who among your friends, family members or colleagues will you invite to do this with you?"
🗓️ Schedule ‘The Week’ for 2025: https://www.theweek.ooo/
🗣️ Have you already experienced The Week? Share your story in the comments to inspire others to take the journey.
