Om oss

Jord is rebalancing the carbon cycle with the next generation of solid biofuel. Jord is rebalancing the carbon cycle by producing solid biofuel and biochar from C4-grass, which is used to regenerate degraded and marginal land. Jord's unique approach solves three problems simultaneously: • Degraded land unfit for food production; • Dependency on fossil fuels; and • Increasing levels of CO₂ in the atmosphere. Jord uses specialized C4-grasses on marginal and degraded soils. As these grasses grow, within Jord's regenerative agroforestry model, they efficiently absorb CO₂ and store it in the grass tissues, root system, and soil as organic matter, gradually enriching the soil and increasing overall soil health. The harvested grass is transformed into two products: • 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹; and • 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿. Jord's solid biofuel, is a renewable energy source that provides a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. It is well-suited for generating heat and power in the manufacturing industry. The biochar produced during this process is added to the soil to improve its quality and fertility, leading to enhanced soil health and increased crop yields. Jord's biochar is highly resistant to decomposition, ensuring its stability in the soil for hundreds of years. Jord also provides comprehensive and tailored 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘀 for businesses committed to reducing CO₂ emissions by offsetting otherwise unavoidable carbon emissions within their value chains.

  • 🌱 World soil day 2024: Caring for soils, securing our future 🌍 Did you know over 95% of our food depends on soil? Yet, soil degradation caused by climate change and human activity is putting this lifeline at risk. 🌾 The challenge Erosion weakens soil health, reducing water infiltration, lowering food nutrients, and threatening biodiversity. With global food demand set to rise 60% by 2050, restoring soil health is more urgent than ever. 🌿 The solution Sustainable practices like minimum tillage, crop rotation, organic matter, and cover cropping not only restore soil health but also combat climate change by sequestering carbon. This year’s theme—Caring for soils: measure, monitor, manage—emphasizes using accurate data to support sustainable soil management and secure our future. At Jord, we regenerate degraded soils, enabling them to support diverse crops while ensuring food security. Our rigorous on-the-ground verifications, conducted with independent auditors, guarantee reliable assessments and meaningful impact. Healthy soils are the foundation for a sustainable planet. Join us in protecting this vital resource! #worldsoilday #soilhealth #sustainability #regeneration #climateaction #healthysoils

  • 🌍 COP29: $300 Billion climate finance deal—Progress or missed opportunity? 🌱 Nations at COP29 have agreed that developed countries will provide $300 billion annually by 2035 to help vulnerable nations shift to a low-carbon economy and address the impacts of climate change. This triples the previous $100 billion target but falls short of the $1.3 trillion experts estimate is required each year to effectively tackle the crisis. While the financial commitment is a step forward, no agreement was reached on phasing out fossil fuels. This critical omission perpetuates a cycle where financial support addresses damage without tackling the root causes. Key outcomes from COP29 include: 🌟 Climate Finance $300 billion annual commitment by 2035 to support vulnerable nations. A welcome increase, but significantly below the estimated need for effective climate action. 🌟 Carbon Markets Finalized rules for Article 6 of the Paris Agreement: 1️⃣ Article 6.2: Bilateral carbon trading between countries. 2️⃣ Article 6.4: Centralized mechanism to trade carbon credits globally. These frameworks are expected to improve transparency and efficiency in global carbon markets, accelerating progress toward emission reduction goals. The lack of progress on phasing out fossil fuels remains a major challenge. As we move toward COP30 in Brazil, it is vital to ensure that financial pledges and carbon market developments are matched by concrete action to phase out fossil fuels. 💬 We want to hear your perspective—what do you think of the COP29 outcomes? • 🌿 What we mean when we talk about regenerative agroforestry at Jord 🌿 In simple terms, regenerative agroforestry is a method that combines trees with crops, using practices that nurture and regenerate soil health. 🌱 At Jord, our regenerative agroforestry model is designed to produce high biomass yields for solid biofuel production while revitalizing degraded soils. 🌾 Our approach combines warm-season grasses (using the C4 photosynthetic pathway) with legume trees as primary crops, alongside other intercropped species. Fast-growing grasses and dense tree stands are arranged in hedgerows, blocks, and other configurations, forming a resilient, regenerative system. 🌳 We use degraded and marginal lands, transforming them into productive landscapes that provide sustainable biofuels and create new income opportunities for rural communities. 🌍💼 Soil benefits of regenerative agroforestry include: 🌿 Increased soil organic matter 💧 Enhanced water retention 🦠 Boosted microbial activity ♻️ Reduced nutrient losses How do we achieve this? Reduced tilling, retaining agro residues on the soil, maintaining live roots year-round, and encouraging crop diversity are some of the key practices that make this possible. 🌾🌱🌿 Visit https://www.jord.one to learn more about our projects and their impact. #Jord #RegenerativeAg #Soil #SoilSequestration #CarbonRemoval #C4Grass #Bioeconomy #DominicanRepublic #SolidBiofuels

  • 🌍 2024 IEA World Energy Outlook: Key Insights into Global Energy Security and Energy Transitions ⚡ The latest International Energy Agency (IEA) Energy Outlook explores how shifting market trends, geopolitical uncertainties, emerging technologies, clean energy progress, and the growing impacts of climate change are reshaping what it means to have secure energy systems. Here are 4 key findings: 1️⃣ Geopolitical Risks: Ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine highlight persistent energy security risks. While some effects of the 2023 energy crisis have eased, the threat of disruptions remains high, emphasizing the need for a more resilient energy system. 2️⃣ Clean Energy Progress: The report shows clean energy transitions have accelerated, with China contributing 60% of new global renewable capacity in 2023. However, despite this growth, two-thirds of the increase in global energy demand was still met by fossil fuels, leading to another record high in CO₂ emissions. 3️⃣ Despite the momentum behind clean energy, the world is far from aligning with net-zero goals. Without a sharp decline in emissions, current policies project a temperature rise of 2.4°C by the end of the century, well above the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement. 4️⃣ Bioenergy will play a key role in the global energy transition, with consumption expected to rise significantly by 2050. Solid biofuels will dominate, particularly in power generation and industry, with strong growth in China and India. Liquid biofuels will become vital for aviation and shipping, while biogas and biomethane are set to grow, especially in emerging markets, as substitutes for natural gas and sources of dispatchable power.
