The Young Researchers' Challenge 2024 is now concluded. We have had three amazing days filled with inspiring talks, presentations and networking with researchers from nine different countries and 18 universities or academic research institutes! The young researchers presented their research as 3MT presentations, and these are now available on the MWP Youtube Channel: https://lnkd.in/dDf6msB7 We have already started planning for next year's event, so stay tuned for more information to come in early 2025! #mwp #mwpyoungresearchers #forestbasedresearch #research #science #youngresearcher

The Marcus Wallenberg Prize Ceremony 2024 was held on November 11, 2024. At the event we honoured the 2024 Marcus Wallenberg Prize laureates Professors Wout Boerjan and John Ralph. The prize was awarded by His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. The 2024 Marcus Wallenberg Prize is awarded to Professors Wout Boerjan and John Ralph for their groundbreaking research leading to a greater understanding of lignin biosynthesis and structural diversity. Both scientists developed and innovatively applied advanced analytical techniques in ways that greatly alter our view of lignin biosynthesis and structure in trees. Their research provides a basis for development of wood deconstruction processes and new applications for lignin, the most abundant source of natural aromatics in the biosphere. #forestry #research #mwp #marcuswallenbergprize #lignin

Invitation to participate in the Marcus Wallenberg Prize Symposium Innovations and start-ups in focus on this year’s Marcus Wallenberg Prize Symposium. We are happy to announce that this year’s Marcus Wallenberg Prize Symposium will include a full section focused on innovations and start-ups related to the growing use of lignin. Lignin is considered one of the most underutilized natural resources on the planet. Since lignin is a natural component of all forestry, it is globally accessible as a renewable raw material. We will hear from recognized professionals and researchers in the industry, who will share their insights and recommendations on how to best harness the potential of lignin as a natural resource. Registration is now open for those who wish to participate digitally in the Marcus Wallenberg Prize Symposium. Please visit mwpsymposium.org to learn more about the agenda and secure your spot. Online participation is free of charge.
