Today's Family Day has come to an end, showcasing our community vibe with more than 160 family members joining us for a variety of engaging activities, such as a quiz, dancing around the Christmas tree to live music, and interactive stations set up by Vattenhallen, where children were challenged to create projects with a sustainable focus. Great fun for children (and other relatives) to visit their parents' workplace, enjoy activities, and celebrate the upcoming holidays in a relaxed way! #communityvibe #sciencepark Vattenhallen Science Center

Mats Paulsson has been named an Honorary Doctor by the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University. The title has been awarded in recognition of his longstanding commitment to medical research and his pivotal role in establishing Medicon Village in Lund, and more. Over the years, he has founded three foundations supporting public-benefit initiatives, particularly in the fields of medical research and healthcare. One of these is the Mats Paulsson Foundation for Research, Innovation, and Societal Development, established in 2011. This foundation played a crucial role in the creation of Medicon Village, which has since become a leading and unique environment for research and business. By reinvesting profits from Medicon Village’s operations and returns from the foundation into research, groundbreaking projects in areas such as cancer and neuroscience have been funded. Earlier this year, coinciding with Mats Paulsson's 80th birthday, it was announced that the foundation's research funding would increase from SEK 25 million to SEK 50 million in 2024. Altogether, Paulsson’s various foundations have donated nearly a quarter of a billion Swedish kronor to health-promoting research. The conferment ceremony will take place on 23 May 2025. As a social conclusion to our Career Day yesterday, we hosted this year’s final Science After Work at Inspira. The event featured beer tasting, an interview with Tom Harding from our Supporting Partner Potter Clarkson, and great mingling. Link to pictures of happy minglers in a comment below. The annual Career Day itself delivered a full house, with 180 students and researchers meeting 16 companies interested in attracting talent, matchmaking, seminars on job searching in the life science industry, insights into opportunities for entering the industry, and presentations of possible roles and specialties within the field. The event was organized by Careers Centre at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, and Medicon Village. It was part of the Cross-border Talent Bridge project, an EU Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak-funded initiative aimed at strengthening talent attraction and retention in life sciences and deep tech in the Öresund region. The main partners in the project are the Municipality of Lund, Ideon Science Park, Medicon Village, OpenTech, Copenhagen Capacity, the Municipality of Copenhagen, and Medicon Valley Alliance. We are well-known for the biobanks on our premises. Less well-known is our tree bank, where trees are planted for future use in our life science park. This week, 10 of our 15-year-old lindens and maples are being transferred to Kunskapsparken in Brunnshög as compensation for some of the trees that were cut down by vandals. #forthecommongood #sciencepark HELGESSONS TRÄDTJÄNST AB | Lunds kommun | Brunnshög
