Research shows five SBRT sessions are as effective as 39 for radiotherapy in prostate cancer. Results have been published from a British long-term follow-up study of 874 prostate cancer patients who received either conventional radiation therapy in 20 or 39 sessions or stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) involving higher radiation doses in five sessions. We recently had the pleasure of attending Johan Staby Olsén's dissertation “Radiotheraphy of Prostate Cancer with aspects on hypofractionation and high precision” at Örebro University, Sweden. It was interesting to hear about how the Raypilot System contributed to the real-time positioning with the conclusion that motion monitoring is necessary. The increasing interest in hypofractionation within the research community is something that makes us very happy! We are happy to share that the Raypilot Community is growing with the addition of another esteemed Spanish clinic, ICO Badalona! ICO Badalona is one of four centers under the Institut Català d'Oncologia, a multicentric cancer center and public hospital chain owned by the Catalan Department of Health. Through our 'Try-Before-Buy' agreement, the clinic will use the Raypilot System for the introduction of SBRT with 5 fractions over five consecutive days for the treatment of prostate cancer. "It is natural for clinics to want to try new equipment, especially when it comes to completely new technology and working methods. Through our 'Try-Before-Buy' offer, the clinic can try to introduce a working method that increases accuracy with a focus on reducing side effects. All to improve the quality of life for patients undergoing radical prostate treatment for cancer diagnosis," said Thomas Lindström, Managing Director at Micropos Medical.
