  • Last week we hosted our annual webinar in collaboration with our dedicated users with the focus on how to optimize #SBRT and strategies to reduce side effects in prostate cancer treatment. Highlights from the Webinar: Prof. Arcangeli talked about the evolution of Prostate Cancer Radiotherapy and presented data from their latest study on single-fraction treatment for prostate cancer, with some key takeaways being:  • Median delivery time for the single-dose treatment was 4.3 minutes, demonstrating remarkable efficiency. •  After 18 months of follow-up, the toxicity data from the study were very few grade 2 reports and zero grade 3, reflecting very promising patient outcomes.   The Edinburgh team shared their reflections moving forward from the insights from the recently published PACE-B trial, and on how the five-fraction radiotherapy is becoming the new standard of care for prostate cancer treatment in the UK.    Prof. McLaren posed the question: “Why do we accept any toxicity?” — underscoring the importance of striving for precision and safety in every aspect of the treatment.   Joanne Mitchell, research radiographer also from the Edinburgh team, expanded on the challenges posed by organ motion during radiotherapy, emphasizing:  • Organs at risk are inherently dynamic due to the natural movement of a living, breathing body. • Accurate dose delivery is crucial, as organ motion directly impacts treatment efficacy and safety. She addressed the responsibility of radiographers to deliver optimal treatment for the patients in every treatment session.   Johannes Berhchold, Medical Physicist from SALK, shared their clinical experiences from the Saltzburg team, and elaborated on variability in prostate movement. • While some prostates remain relatively stable, others can move up to 1 cm within seconds. • How the #RaypilotSystem can replace the need for fiducial markers, and also saves time when treating.   This exchange of data and knowledge underscores the advancements in prostate cancer treatment and the shared commitment in the #RaypilotCommunity to improving patient outcomes. We thank all the participants and our speakers for making this event a success! #ProstateCancer #SBRT #Raypilot #Webinar #Radiotheraphy

  • Patient Testimonial from Athens Medical Center This is Thanasis Polyzos, a 75-year-old resident of Ilioupoli, Attica, Greece, who recently received treatment from Dr. Kritselis and his team at Athens Medical Center. Thanasis's health journey began with a high PSA test, followed by a biopsy that confirmed prostate adenocarcinoma. Initially advised to undergo prostate removal surgery, he sought a second opinion from Dr. KRITSELIS GEORGE, who recommended SBRT supported by the "Raypilot method." "The Raypilot approach meant I avoided surgery and spent less time at the hospital; I only needed three visits instead of thirty. I felt comfortable during the treatment and was able to return home, resume work, and attend to my social obligations normally. I feel very fortunate to have met Dr. Kritselis and his team. I highly recommend this method to everyone; it truly is a miracle. With this treatment, many men will enjoy a better quality of life," says Thanasis Polyzos. So far, more than 300 patients have been treated with the Raypilot System, and we love hearing their stories and learning about their quality of life after treatment! #SBRT #Radiotheraphy #ProstateCancer #RaypilotSystem

  • 🇪🇸 The Raypilot System is gaining traction in #SBRT for #prostatecancer patients in Spain. Hospital Universitario La Paz in Madrid is one of the hospitals currently using the system clinically. Dr. Luis Glaría at the hospital’s radiotherapy department shares his insights on the system's impact on patient quality of life: “Overall, they see it as a short treatment technique with few adverse effects on the genitourinary system, especially because they recover quickly.”   Will you be attending SEOR .es? On September 26 Micropos Medical will host a breakfast meeting about the Raypilot system, the latest studies, and practical insights into clinical implementation.   Book your seat: Please reach out to Eduardo Urcelay at eduardo.urcelay@micropos.se for more information and an invitation badge. Please note that this is an invite-only event.   #SBRT #ProstateCancer #SEOR2024

  • Prostate Cancer Awareness Day Today, we pause to recognize the individuals and families affected by prostate cancer. It is a time to reflect on the impact of this disease and the importance of continued innovation in diagnosis, treatment, and care.   In 2020, prostate cancer accounted for 23.2% of all new cancer cases diagnosed in men across EU-27 countries (excluding non-melanoma skin cancers). These statistic underscores the need for ongoing research and support.   At Micropos we are deeply grateful for our dedicated team, supporters, and the healthcare professionals who are pushing the boundaries of prostate cancer treatment. Together, we are committed to advancing the science and improving outcomes for patients worldwide. Let’s continue to support groundbreaking research and drive progress towards a future with high quality of life for patients undergoing prostate cancer treatment. #ProstateCancer #ProstateCancerAwarenessDay #Healthcare
