Mistra SAMS is a research programme that studies digitally supported services for accessibility and mobility, and their potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, particle emissions and congestion. The program is funded by Mistra and hosted and managed by KTH Royal Institute of Technology, together with VTI, Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute.
The goal of Mistra SAMS is to provide knowledge about factors that influence public actors’ means to, together with private actors, foster a transition to platform-based accessibility services that contribute to a transition of the urban transport system towards sustainability targets in a substantial way.
Mistra SAMS has an urban focus and takes as its starting-point conditions in Stockholm, both the inner city and suburbs. Based on this empirical foundation, the programme provides insights into public actors’ possible roles and means to influence development and implementation of new accessibility services and platform technology; Which pathways are open to public actors? Which opportunities for action are available, and which are the effects of those opportunities on long-term sustainability targets?
Through interconnected research projects the program will:
Identify promising services, Understand user needs and institutional conditions that enable services to be adopted, Design and test services and service platforms, and Influence policy and society.
Research is done in collaboration with The City of Stockholm, The city of Malmö, Botkyrka Municipality, Lund University, Karlstad University, The Swedish Transport Administration, K2 The Swedish Knowledge Center for Public Transport, Openlab, Ericsson, Samtrafiken, Transformator Design, Scania, Hertz/Sunfleet, and Savantic.
