Alcohol Policy Is Second Most Cost-Effective Solution for Dementia Prevention in the UK 💡 https://lnkd.in/dDq-FJu6 ⚡ The researchers aimed to estimate the cost effectiveness of population-level interventions for tackling dementia risk factors. They found such interventions for tobacco smoking, alcohol use, diet modification to decrease hypertension and obesity, air pollution, and head injury. 💥 Based on the effects on dementia, the researchers estimated that reductions in alcohol use through minimum unit pricing would be expected to produce cost savings of £280 million and 4767 QALY gains respectively – the second biggest benefit after population-level measures to lower obesity and hypertension rates. #AlcPolPrio #HealthForAll #AlcoholHarms #Dementia #AlcoholPolicy #DementiaPrevention #Affordability #MUPSavesLives

How Do Countries Inform Their People That Alcohol Causes Cancer? 💡 People care about cancer prevention and they want to know - on labels, from healthcare professionals, from politicians - that alcohol causes 7 types of cancer. ⚡ So, how do countries inform their people about the direct link between alcohol and cancer? 🤝 This article explores how countries are addressing cancer risks due to alcohol by highlighting effective strategies and the challenges they face. Which countries have – or will have – effective warning labels, which countries have state-of-the-art low-risk alcohol use guidelines, and are there public awareness efforts on alcohol and cancer? 🚨 In addition to these questions, the article also exposes how the alcohol industry works to keep people in the dark about the alcohol and cancer link and how Big Alcohol blocks countries from adopting evidence-based approaches to informing people. https://lnkd.in/dh2qSFRQ #AlcoholPolicy #AlcoholIssues #AlcPolPrio #AlcoholHarms #BigAlcoholExposed #AlcoholAndCancer #CancerPrevention #RightToKnow #AlcoholLabeling #AlcoholAwareness
