This is the iPod moment for Neko Health. Yesterday, we announced that we raised $260M—the largest funding round in Sweden in recent years. When we first launched Neko Health in Sweden in 2023, we faced three big questions: 1. Do people even want this? 2. Are people willing to pay for it, especially in Sweden, where healthcare is considered “free”? 3. Is there any repeatability in our business? Within two hours of opening our doors, we sold out all available slots and had over 6,000 people sign up on the waitlist within the first month—just in Sweden. That gave us hope, but it didn’t fully answer our third question. So, we asked all our members after each scan: “Would you like to rebook for next year?” To our surprise, 80% of people chose to rebook and prepay for the following year—a trend that continues to this day. That’s when we knew: we had something truly special going on. Since then, the momentum has been incredible. With over 100,000 people on our waitlist, it’s clear there is significant demand for preventive health. It feels like we’re at the zeitgeist and tipping point of a pivotal moment for healthcare. What sets Neko Health apart—and what many may not fully realize—is that we are a fully integrated tech company. We build our own devices, develop our software, and design our health centers. This approach was intentionally designed by Hjalmar Nilsonne and Daniel Ek from the very beginning, and their strategic decisions are now paying off in remarkable ways. Our ability to iterate quickly and control the entire experience has been pivotal to our success. What also stands out is our focus on design and user experience. There’s truly nothing else like it. Thanks to the meticulous attention to detail from great minds like Alfredo Aponte, Franquibel Lima, and Hjalmar, alongside the brilliant designers, engineers (Mikael Olenfalk), researchers (Mattias Windå), lawyers (Dara Gill) doctors (Andreea Valdman), and operators (Linda Ling) on our team, the experience we provide is nothing short of magical. But this is just the beginning. We have so many exciting ideas and innovations in the pipeline to make the experience even more extraordinary. Having completed 10,000 scans to date, with a further 100,000 people on our waitlist, demand is clear. This additional funding will accelerate the pace of our expansion giving more people the chance to preventatively manage their health —not just in Europe but in the US too.   In addition to serving more people, we’ll be doubling down on ground breaking research and development, and on our commitment to combining exceptional engineering with medical expertise and user-centered design. This financing allows us to invest even more into developing next-generation diagnostic and prevention tools. We’re ready to move even faster toward transforming healthcare from reactive to preventive care.   We welcome O.G. Venture Partners as new investors and are grateful for the continued support from General Catalyst, Lakestar and Atomico who also participated in this round, joining original investors Prima Materia.
