Enova has awarded Carbon Removal a grant to develop its Direct Air Capture project NorDAC Kollsnes. The grant is for 50% of eligible project development expenses up to a maximum of NOK 26.3 million. The project development is planned to run over a period of approximately two years from today. This contribution by Enova is a major step forward for the NorDAC Kollsnes project and a very effective and necessary derisking of the development phase. DAC is a key technology for compensation in hard-to-abate industries and reversing legacy emissions already in the atmosphere. Norway is a great place to urgently start scaling this important technology, and it is very comforting to see Norwegian government contributing to mobilisation of this industry.

🚀 Durable CDR in the True North - the Nordic frontier leads the way!! 🇩🇰 🇫🇮 🇮🇸 🇳🇴 🇸🇪 📈 With more than 40 organizations and 22 projects, the Nordic region has been playing a pivotal role in ramping up Europe's push for gigaton scale in CDR. ✨ From the world's largest DAC plant with a capacity to remove 36,000 tonnes of CO2 per year (Project Mammoth, Climeworks) to large BECCS projects (Ørsted, Stockholm Exergi) that continue to yield megatonne deals with the likes of Microsoft and Frontier. 🔬 The region is also home to the world's leading registry in durable CDR (Puro.earth) and is a thriving hub for research and development to propel CDR ahead in the years to come. 🌍 In these countries, projects and innovations span across carbon removal methods each with solutions unique to their geographies, economies, and policies. 👏 In the near future, we will be diving deeper on how each country's CDR industry is growing, but for now, let us take this moment to appreciate and support the vital work being done by all the teams and global partners across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden: Accend | AFRY | AquaGreen ApS | BioCirc | Bioman ApS | Carbo Culture | Carbofex | Carbonaide | Carbfix | CHOOOSE | Climeworks | Compensate | Danish Energy Agency | Down to Earth - Carbon Removal | Ekovilla Oy | GreenCap Solutions AS | Inherit Carbon Solutions | International Carbon Registry | Jord AB | Klimate.co | MASH Makes | Milkywire | Nordic DAC Group | Nordbex | Nordic Impact Oy | Normative.io | Oplandske Bioenergi (OBIO) | Ørsted | Paebbl | Planboo | Puro.earth | Removement | Removr | Reverse Carbon | Soilwatch | Soletair Power | Stockholm Exergi | Stiesdal 🗺 Check out the CDR Map to dive into more detail: https://lnkd.in/eDHSpBfb 📌 We’ve recently launched a new feature that enables organizations to add CDR projects and facilities on the CDR Map. We had the REPAIR consortium meeting at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden between 27-28 November 2023. The first day was filled with technical discussions related to technologies and plausibility for removing methane from the atmosphere, with more focus on agricultural sector. We followed it up with a full day discussion about incorporating stakeholder feedback in technology development, collaboration between experimental and modeling activities, and dissemination and exploitation measures. Its great to have partners like Valio, Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de España, InPhoCat and Nordic DAC Group onboard with us on REPAIR, where we develop technologies for removing methane (and possibly nitrous oxide) from the atmosphere considering early-stage stakeholder feedback.
