Bei einer Rotorblattinspektion werden alle möglichen Schäden durch Blitzeinschlag oder Materialermüdung am Rotorblatt dokumentiert und ggf. behoben. Dazu seilt sich ein professioneller Industriekletterer von der Gondel ab. Das Schiff in Reichweite, das sogenannte Standby Vessel ermöglicht den Zugang zur Anlage und dient der Sicherheit. Die Zähne an der Abrisskante sind übrigens Schalldämpfer. Die Verzahnung ist eine Erfindung des Dänen Peder Bay Enevoldsen und reduziert den Lärm und erhöht die Effizienz der Turbine. Diese Innovation ist - wie viele Errungenschaften - von der Natur inspiriert. Hier stand der Flügel einer Eule Pate. Eulen haben an der Rückseite ihrer Flügel flexible, weiche Fransen, die Luftverwirbelungen abmildern. While conducting a topside IRM scope we could execute Thermal Imaging inspection by our partner METRIC Sp. z o.o. That is a very innovative technic to finding faults at an early stage before they cause more serious failures and extensive repairs instead of a system shutdown with loss of production
We are pleased to inform you that METRIC Sp. z o.o., in collaboration with OFFSHORE-TECH, is currently conducting an advanced thermal imaging inspection at a German wind farm in the North Sea. We are diagnosing the ICCP (Impressed Current Cathodic Protection) system, which is crucial for protecting against corrosion and extending the lifespan of wind turbines. Our team of specialists is focused on a thorough assessment of this system to ensure it operates correctly and to identify any potential issues. In the first weeks of the inspection, thanks to thermal imaging, we have already identified several components that require repair. Early detection of these faults allows for quick intervention, preventing more serious failures and extending the turbines' service life. This project presents new technical challenges for us, motivating continuous improvement and innovation. We believe that thermal imaging will also prove effective in other areas of wind turbine diagnostics, such as monitoring bearings, gearboxes, generators, and electrical systems. It enables us to detect anomalies early, which is key to preventing failures and optimizing maintenance costs. This is just the beginning of our mission to introduce advanced diagnostic methods in wind energy. We hope that thermal imaging will become a standard in diagnosing and preventing failures in the future, contributing to greater efficiency and reliability of systems. This week we have a team out on a wind farm on the German Bight conducting Annual inspections on 20 wea`s the inspections are executed from the WEA´s itself the team is transported around with the serviceteam so no designated vessel is used for the operation meaning that a full inspection concept is conducted without a thirdparty vessel keeping the cost and environmental impact to a minimum The inspections consisted of Survey from point of burial, scour protection, Touchdown, freespan, CPS, and GVI of Monopile and Cathodic Protection
