Thanks for everyone who came to visit us at BrauBeviale this year. It seemed fitting that the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) passed another milestone on the morning of the opening of the show. PPWR opens up Europe to reuse on a massive scale, with targets locked in for 2030 and 2040. Along with Genossenschaft Deutscher Brunnen eG (GDB), we showcased our integrated system for expanding reuse in new markets, with our expertise in manufacturing refillable PET bottles, and GDB's pool management experience. Transitioning a beverage market from solely single use to a combined single and reusable beverage is a complex task. In the Logistics Lounge at Brau Beviale 2024, Petainer and Genossenschaft Deutscher Brunnen eG (GDB) will be presenting our joint solution for expanding reusable PET beverage packaging across Europe. Our teams will be able to answer questions around the new PPWR legislation, pool management and refillable PET bottles for mineral water and carbonated soft drinks. For Carol and Scott of Wild West Brewing Company in Chengdu China, sustainability is at the core of their process. As a long-term partner of Petainer, we worked closely with them to bring our Chime Reuse model to life. This process ensures that their beer is always in top condition, whilst also doing their part for sustainability. What is Chime Reuse? Petainer’s Chime Reuse model ensures that brewers can be more sustainable, without losing out on quality. Unique in the market, Petainer Kegs have reusable top and bottom chime sets. After use, the sets can be collected and reattached to a Petainer Keg body. The body of the Keg keeps beer fresh, with in-built oxygen and UV barriers, whilst the chime sets make automatic filling and handling easier, as well as offering protection in transport. Wild West are well placed for Chime Reuse, with Petainer Kegs from across China ending up in Chengdu, ensuring a ready supply of chime sets for them to use. Wild West organise the return of chime sets to their brewery and they simply clean and reattach the chimes to Petainer Keg bodies before filling on their line. Wild West only need to buy the essential Keg body, saving them on the cost of a Hybrid Keg, but still using a Hybrid Keg. Reusing one Chime Set saves the equivalent emissions of 3 Petainer Keg bodies, making reusing chimes a small change with a big impact.
