Here’s to 2024: a year filled with growing, learning and more incredible connections! ✨ As the year comes to its end, we’re taking some time to rest and recharge. Remember, slowing down is a radical act that's just as important as speeding up. A massive thank you to everyone who’s supported, partnered, and cheered us on this year. Trivia, triumphs and tree-tastic yogis. Our and Milkywire’s Casual Climate Christmas Quiz is officially in the books! 🌲✨ We long wanted to create something special for the climate community in Stockholm — a space to connect, build bonds, and celebrate climate action. Seeing it come to life with conversations buzzing and friendships forming showed us once again just how extraordinary this community truly is. To everyone who showed up and put their quiz skills (and balance!) to the test, thank you. You made our day. 🧡 Ps. We’re already planning round two. (any suggestions on where to next??) Better get those stretches in, folks!

🌱 The Power of Biochar in Action! 🌱 Check out these incredible results from our lemongrass experiment: • Left: Without biochar • Right: With biochar The difference speaks for itself! What’s truly amazing is that we didn’t mix the biochar into the soil or water the plants in either condition. Biochar was simply placed on top of the soil, showcasing its incredible ability to: 1️⃣ Retain Moisture: It traps water from the air, acting as a natural reservoir for plants. 2️⃣ Boost Nutrients: Biochar absorbs nitrogen and other key nutrients, fostering healthier and stronger plants. 3️⃣ Enhance Sustainability: This simple practice is a game-changer for resilient farming systems. This experiment was inspired by what we learned at the IBI Academy last year. A big thank you to International Biochar Initiative for inspiring Wongphai, and we hope to pass on this inspiration to future students of the academy. We also want to thank our partner Planboo for supporting biochar financing and Seth Elton for the photo, which perfectly captures the remarkable impact of biochar. In addition, we’re excited to collaborate with Dr. Apiniti Jotisankasa Kasetsart University on an upcoming study to dive deeper into the science behind biochar’s effects on soil and plants. This will include data collection, experimentation, and academic publication. Let’s continue spreading the knowledge and benefits of biochar. Together, we can inspire more sustainable practices and shape the future of agriculture. #Biochar #SustainableFarming #SoilHealth #ClimateAction #IBIAcademy #Planboo #InnovationInAgriculture

What fuels our Monday mojo? 🕺 Stories like this... Here’s a little glimpse into the incredible (!!) work of our friends and project partners over at Wongphai I BIOCHAR are leading in the lush bamboo forests in Prachinburi region, Thailand – turning bamboo offcuts into community wealth. Smashing it, as per, Khomchalat Thongting & Nui Tanthiptham!
Meet Kom and Nui, alumni of IBI’s 2023 #BiocharAcademy, who have turned #bamboo waste into a source of community wealth in Thailand. In just one year, they've expanded their role as mentors and local guides for the 2024 Biochar Academy, proving how powerful biochar can be in transforming both local economies and the environment. 🌿💚 Read their inspiring story and see how biochar is making a difference! 👇 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gQX2h9SB #Biochar #SustainableFuture #CommunityImpact #ClimateAction #ThisIsBiochar

What’s holding back the scale up of the carbon removal we so urgently need – and, more importantly, how do we overcome it? A massive thanks to We Don't Have Time and Exponential Roadmap Initiative for having us join your COP broadcast last week. And thank you Priya, for reminding us that behind the tools, tech, and tactics, it’s our care for one another and the planet we call home that drives this mission. 🌱 Watch the full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/dXbw8yc8

...Exciting things are happening in Songwe, Tanzania! 🇹🇿🌱 As our pilot project with Solidaridad Network wraps up the first biochar production phase, the team’s now out in the fields, focusing on mixing and applying it to the soil around coffee trees. Now, it might be the biochar diehards in us speaking, but isn’t this view full-on stop-mid-sentence-worthy?? With all the learnings gained from this pilot (because, let’s be honest, the unwritten rule for any biochar project is: there’s a lot of them!), the project will expand next year to include several hundred small-scale farmers. We're beaming to see it come to life, all thanks to the team, Monalisa Shumbusho, Eduard Merger, Roselaida Ngowi, Fred Hornaday and so many others, who’ve poured heart, soul and a fair share of grit into making this happen! Want to know more? Our project deck is coming soon – sign up here and we’ll send it your way as soon it’s ready: https://lnkd.in/g-8h85nj ✨
